Depends on how close one adheres to the stereotype.

There are not that many tie-die wearing folks around but there is a good population that smokes weed, a good portion who attends yoga classes, and obviously there's a general progressive base out here.

So basically it's like a big college campus.

We do have a lot of university students, as we have a lot of universities in our state. Educated, younger people do have a higher likelihood of adopting more progressive attitudes and interests.

It also depends greatly on where you live. I'm in the SF bay area and there's a fair amount of older hippies with money around here. Folks that were hippies back in the day then got older and made it big - now they live in Berkeley or Marin County mostly. But this is very different than in downtown Oakland or Richmond where there's a large minority community and a lot of gang activity.

Conversely the central valley is mostly farms and farmers. SF is a whole different universe than LA which is totally different than San Diego as well. For as progressive as we'd like to think we are, we still haven't been able to legalize gay marriage or marijuana or any really on the edge.

That almost sounds Peruvian. The Peruvians have something called Lomo Saltado, which is steak, fries, tomato, red onion, peas, and sauce over rice.

We make this at home. I grill the meat and potatoes and my wife makes the sauce and puts the whole thing togethers. YUUMMM!

I am an older hippie living in San Francisco, I am not rich. I don't wear tie dye. I am old enough to be part of the psychedelic generation but young enough to remember seeing the DK's , Flipper and DOA at the places like the Mahubay Gardens and the American Indian Club.
I am white but the rest of my familiy is hispanic or filipino. I am also a Christian but I am not conservative by any stretch. I can't even decide if I should play my Precision or my Jazz. I just don't seem to fit in any category.

WHAA? really? The ONLY positive out of this whole thing is that it would be coming from The Green Burrito. There used to be a Green Burrito here in San Diego years ago. The food was REALLY good. I have yet to try anything since they merged with Hurl's Jr.

I have no problem getting mexican food through a drive-thru as long as it's coming from a mexican restaurant
