Yes, I have read the forums on effects and where they should go in the chain...

But I want to know how YOU'D arrange the following...

This is what you've got to play with:

Boss Bass Limiter Enhancer LMB-3
Boss Bass Chorus CEB-3
Boss Super Octaver OC-3
Boss Tuner TU-12
Fulltone Bassdrive
Dunlop Bass Cry Baby 105-Q
Tech 21 VT
Digitech Bass Synth Wah

I have mucked about with putting this before that, and would like to hear what you'd recommend.

I would put them in this order

Boss Tuner TU-12
Dunlop Bass Cry Baby 105-Q
Boss Super Octaver OC-3
Boss Bass Chorus CEB-3
Fulltone Bassdrive
Digitech Bass Synth Wah
Boss Bass Limiter Enhancer LMB-3
Tech 21 VT

I am not sure how the chorus, bassdrive and synth wah would play together but this would be my 1st try any changes I suspect would be between these three.

Honestly, there is no wrong or right way to set up your signal chain. It's a pretty personal preference kind of thing.
Do you like your overdrive/dist/fuzz compressed?
Do you like od/dist/fuzz into wah, or wah into od/dist/fuzz?
Do you like chorus at the end, beginning, or somewhere in the middle? (makes a difference when using other effects in conjunction)
Do you like octave into envelope filter/wah, or envelope filter/wah into octave?
etc etc etc.
We could give you as many different ways to set up your pedalboard, but I guarantee you will be happier if you sit down and try different combinations until you find what works for you.

John forgot to mention that he'd sell the OC3 and buy an OC2. ;)

Actually though, why the OC-3 AND a BSW? The Bass Synth Wah is as good an octaver by itself.

Not to be nit picky (okay maybe a little...) but the TU-12 doesn't have a mute. It's just a needle tuner with an input and output. :hiding:

I assume its either for the poly mode (which the BSW doesn't have), or that he wants to use the BSW as a synth and doesn't want to change settings between songs.

As for the order, here's how I would do it:

Bass -> OC-3 -> BSW -> Bassdrive -> 105Q -> CEB-3 -> VT Bass

Since the tuner doesn't have a mute, it can go anywhere and doesn't matter in the pedal order.

A trick I used, use the dry out off the CEB-3 to your Tuner, no need to have the tuner really in the chain, you can set it off too the side.

After that, with a active bass I'd put the LMB-3 at the end to act as a compressor, if it's a passive, put it in the front to amp up your signal as it goes through the pedal board.

Are you running an amp? If so, Is the BasSVT there to provide character? is it there to be an effect that you switch on and off?
I always put octaves first so that they get a nice clean signal to work with, then distortion because I like my distortion to attack all of the octaves and whatnot. I put wah after distortion because It is much more noticeable and really lets people know that you are playing a wah. The Digitech is cool as an envelope filter and as a synth effect. If I were to use it as an octave or synth, I would put it pre distortion. I like Chorus to be near the end of the chain, considering that most of the time its a somewhat subtle effect.

OC3 first so it understands what it is getting. Maybe the bass synth next. Chorus last. 2nd to last: wah. if you must. 3rd to last: Boss Limiter (to handle the VT's output so you don't break anything). VT 4th to last. The rest...in the middle, any order.

+1. If you use it to simulate an amp, definetly put it last or maybe even put the Chorus and Limiter/Enhancer after it to simulate an effects loop.
