That would be Koala, wouldn't it? 'Cause I'm pretty sure you're in a band named Koala. If I was in a band named Koala, I think it might annoy me after a while, too, but then again I've never had the pleasure of being in a band named Koala.

It couldn't have been anything cool, like "marmot" or "marsupial sex drive" or "pink unicorn horsey..."

That's actually a pretty damned cool name. I would use it if you weren't.

I mostly end up using ones for personal projects that you can't tell which is supposed to be the band name and which is the album name.

Like: Meanwhile, Elsewhere - Cause & Defect
or: Cool And Unusual - Laughing in Back

My band is called 4for1, it's a poprock band.. and the names is about 4 boys for one girl (we have four dudes and one vocalist --> a she).
