Your bass setup!

please use the proper forums - we have an effects forum just for this kind of conversation.

Not to be difficult, but given that the original question asked was "How many people use effects and how many people do not?", perhaps the effects forum is not the appropriate place for this thread. You'll likely not get too much input from non-effects users around here.

Maybe the miscellaneous forum would be a better place?

I tend to flip-flop between extremes: for some bands I'll pull out all the stops and use a ton of stompboxes, loopers, rackmount signal processors, the works. And then for others I love to have absolutely nothing between my bass & the amp except a patchcord.

Frankly, I'm leaning more and more towards the latter!

But for those projects where a wide & varied timbral palette is required, I've got:
- Electro-Harmonix Talking Pedal
- Ernie Ball Volume Pedal
- Korg G5 Bass Synth Processor
- Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer
- Ibanez AF9 Auto-Filter
- Ibanez CS9 Chorus
- Electro-Harmonix 16 Second Digital Delay (original)
- Electro-Harmonix 16 Second Digital Delay (reissue)
- Alembic SF-2 Super Filter
- dbx 165A compressor
- AudioArts 1200 compressor
- Line6 POD Pro
- Tech21 SansAmp GT2
- Maestro (Oberheim) Ring Modulator
- Alesis QuadraVerb+
- Yamaha D1500 Digital Delay

and up until recently,
- Oberheim Digital Echoplex Pro
- Digitech 2120 Artist
(just sold those two last winter)

Depends on the night, and which basses I use. We play classic country-rock,and some REALLY old songs my Dad used to play when they were doing live radio shows here in the Basin in 1947. If we're doing country-rock,I use my Carvin B4 with a Zoom B2...(Mostly for amp models.) If we're doing old pretty songs like "Somewhere My Love" I use my Carvin XB75PF which sounds GREAT alone. If we're doing old...OLD songs that call for an upright,I use my Wendler with a Fishman delay..(VERY MILDLY TWEAKED).(I have to insert here that my Dad is 92 and still playing his dobro, guitar, mandolin, and steel guitar...but mainly his dobro. I HOPE when I'm 92 I'll still be able to play my bass!!
