Your bass setup!

Just got my grubby hands on a Boss GT-10b a week or so back. I use it for compression and OD for nearly all the songs my band plays and chorus, flange, switchable eq (when slapping/tapping), octave for parts in songs where I feel they fit. I wouldn't mind experimenting with synth/wah, either.

The built-in silent tuner is nice to have, too. :)

This is a very simple setup: bass-->GT-10b-->amp, it allows me to produce sounds I wouldn't normally be able to without complicating things or requiring a lot of extra setup time.

i use a boss GT-6B for most effects, but i have a separate boss SD-1 with the monte allums GT mod for overdrive. it sounds way tubier and sweeter than the overdrive that the multi-effects pedal can do.

you don't have to use effects but it sure is fun.

In my chain I have a Sansamp BDDI, Morley PBA-2 Wah, Boss CEB-3 Chorus, Ibanez PD7 Distortion, Boss SYB-3 Synth. These are all in my pedalboard on separate channels with my 5-channel Loop-Master. In my rack I have dbx 166XL Compressor, BBE 882 Sonic Maximizer, and an old Digitech ValveFX multi effects processor.

The Sansamp, Compressor and BBE are always utilized. The others are used when needed/wanted only.

Recovered effects junkie here. I found that I was distracted by the pedals trying to find the right sound that I ignored my playing all too much.

Playing clean, I find myself playing better, with more thought on notes rather than tones.

I never used effects before but then again I never really play my bass as much as I do my guitar. I do use effects on my guitar all the time, I have a few different pedals that I use (digitech FTW). they are just a fun way to get a new sound which can give the music a complete different feel then clean does.

I was going to start using effects and see what I like and don't like. the only pedal I have that I have used on my bass is a boss distortion that I never use! I like the clean sound more then distortion.

Effects are only used by those who wish to conceal their own poor technique!
