That's actually a fantastic point...and I would never say they suck, they just will never be my first choice. I also had one of the very first Eden built SWR cabs...and I mean one of the VERY firsts...I always liked, but never LOVED it. Though I am currently running a Genz Uber 410 and 212, I also have an older Genz 410T-XB2, that is more 'trad' like the Eden/SWR, but just a little better fidelity-wise...again, I like a good horn and that puts Genz up there...great boxes too! Got it used for $400, zero regrets.

I agree, they may not be my first choice if I had my pick, but all things being equal, I know exactly what I'm gonna get when I walk into a venue and see an XLT sitting there.
Good, solid, dependable tone all night long.
Will it knock me out? Not 100%- I'd rather have a GB NeoX212.

I played a huge festival this past weekend.
Back line was a SWR Megolaith 810 and a 100RB.
I tossed my Streamliner up there and plugged the cab into it and it tore the place down.
Sounded great.
Would I ever own that cab myself? Hell now it's WAY too big and WAAAAAAYYYYYYY too heavy.
But, it sounded fine.
Not my first choice if I myself were bringing gear, but it slammed.

I;ve had them before and I know what to expect.
If it was a MarkBass 410 or something- by example, I'd worry a bit. Don't know what they are all about.

Markbass cabs just don't go deep enough for my tastes...that Megoliath aint half bad though...used a few in my day, but when you get into the whole 810 fridge thing...that's a different animal...I sometimes regret not just getting an UBER 810 instead of the 212/410 rig I currently own...they're bigger, but it's only one trip!

Anybody have an opinion about an 8ohm mesa road ready 410? I think i like mine but i really need a new amp. My amp is a carvin BX 600. Been using this amp for two years now. Could never get what i wanted out of it. I also used it with the carvin neo 210 (4 ohm). Think i would like to try a GK with this cab. (the mesa)

I seem to remember liking those road ready Mesa's, but it's been a long time...the only thing about 8ohms, I suppose is you won't get all the power out of most amps...I use both of my big amps (GB ShuttleMax 12.0 and Fender TB1200) with my 8ohm GB 410 XB-2 cab, and have tons of power to spare even though the amps aren't putting out nearly as much as they could at 4 or 2 ohms...If you ran a GK 1001, for example, I think it should sound pretty great

Missing my point.....
It's not about the details of each, it's the "know what you're going to get".
If I could request GB for all the backline stuff I need for fly in dates or what not, I would.
99% of the time though, it's Eden, SWR, Ampeg or Hartke.
Toss in a GK and some Mesa every now and then too.
If it's one of those, I know I'm going to be OK on the gig.
Period.
If I flew into Louisville KY and walked in and saw a pair of Epifani 410's, I'd be more than likely pretty happy. BUT not ever playing them and based on my past experiance with the 310 and 112's, I would still be happy, but I would bet I'd be fiddling with a few knobs during the first few songs. They have that low end thing going on that can IME get way nutty on bigger stages with big FOH support.
With an XLT or SWR GI/II/III, to be honest, I kinda can set my amp before I even turn it on and make small adjustments during the first tune- and be done the rest of the night.
Hell, I've used an WT-800 and XLT410 so many times, I know exactly where to dial in the amp and NEVER have to touch it before they even plug it in!
Again, not my first personal choice in gear these days.
(I used to be an Eden endorsee BTW).

Maybe I'm taking this in a different direction. I'm looking at it from a more "industry view" as opposed to my personal view.

I get your point :) The OP seems to be looking for a personal cab, so in light of that, the list of 'dependable' backline cabs doesn't totally apply.

I dont have the patience to sort thru and find it, but years ago I did a huge 410 comparo that took me across 4 states.... it's here in amps somewhere....at the end of the day.... Bergantino shown thru as the clear winner for all scenarios....

I love my Goliath cabs...one is great, 2 are killer

I voted the Mesa, but I prefer the older Diesel series to the Phouse series. I have one each of the Diesel series 410 cabs, one loaded with EVMs and the other with the Eden drivers. They both sound great, the Edens are smoother and a bit cleaner in the low end but the EVMs have a mid bite that cuts through on any stage. Stacked they sound like the 810 from hell.
