I couldn't vote. No Eden xlt

I'm in Copenhagen for a month of gigs...the backline they supplied includes 2 Eden XLT 410 cabs...I just don't like anything about them...don't hate them, but can't see how anyone could be a HUGE fan...to be fair...I HATE the supplied backline amp (GK 800rb...was supposed to be a 1001rb)...I've owned a few Eden cabs/amps and I've never been able to get any magic out of 'em...they are really...fine, but never special.

Sorry!

Of all the cabs listed (and what an odd list it is), I've tried quite a few, so

Aggie- GREAT cabs, but it is a matter of taste.

Avatar- I see what all the fuss is about. Great cabs for the money.

GK- If you like that punchy GK thing (and I do), these are solid cabs.

Genz Benz Uber 410- I think they're AMAZING, but I'm an endorser, so take that with a grain of biased salt :). I will say the reason I am an endorser is because I think it's just incredible gear.

Bergs- Haven't had the pleasure of trying one, but they sure have a ton of fans.

Mesa- VERY nice cabs

Markbass- not enough deep lows

SWR- Never been a fan.

Most of the others I wouldn't consider. If the horn matters to you at all, and it does to me...a clean, usable horn (mostly for slapping an upright), Avatar, Genz and Mesa come out on top from what little I know.

I'm sure that helped very little!

Yeah, IMO the Eden XLT has proven to me just by the sheer number of them I have used/seen as backline gear as the "go to" industry standard.
Them and SWR.
(810 & it's Ampeg and the SWR Megoliath a lot these days for backline gear)
I voted SWR as I don't really have much time spent on any of the others in the poll. Variations on them like 210's or other cabs from them (112, 212 etc..)
I still own a pair of the very first run Goliath 410's built by Eden (in fact they actually say built by Eden Electronics on the back plate!) and I'll put them up against anything.
They just weigh a TON and a half!!!!

All listed will have their "fans", but put aside that and simply look at it objectivly and really, SWR and Eden kinda rule(d) the roost for the 410.
They defined the "modern" tone for a 410 IMO.
Sure, PLENTY now do it much better in many ways. But one thing is for sure when you plug into one of them, they pretty much never suck and always deliver.

Currently, I have the Epifani UL. However, I'm not convinced that it's the best enclosure for the job. I DID NOT SEE the Eden 410XLT, and regardless of weight, that would be my first choice.
:D

Perhaps it's the fact that they're so un-unique that makes them so very remarkable. For example, my Epifani has the sound I want, but from a versatility standpoint, definitely not the best "all around" cab. I'm thinking that the best cab to backline would be the eden for that very reason.
:D

That's actually a fantastic point...and I would never say they suck, they just will never be my first choice. I also had one of the very first Eden built SWR cabs...and I mean one of the VERY firsts...I always liked, but never LOVED it. Though I am currently running a Genz Uber 410 and 212, I also have an older Genz 410T-XB2, that is more 'trad' like the Eden/SWR, but just a little better fidelity-wise...again, I like a good horn and that puts Genz up there...great boxes too! Got it used for $400, zero regrets.

I've used Ampeg, Hartke, and a few others in rehearsal studios, but my favorite was my old SWR Goliath III. It was heavy, but very efficient, deep, clear, and punchy. With my G-K head, it accentuated the growl of a J-bass, which was great. (For some reason, I don't think it worked as well with P-basses.) I've liked the tone when I've heard others use them on stage too. I do prefer my current pair of G-K Neo 112 cabs though, mostly for their better lows -- and light weight!

I do love the classic Ampeg tone (not sure which cabs I used), but for maximum versatility I thought the SWR's clarity was better, and it was more efficient as well. A four ohm version with something like a G-K 700RB-II could cover fairly large gigs IMO.
