Your favorite accordion players?

Cabbage rolls and coffee anyone .....?

This is all pretty thin . . . . . here's the real thing, albeit Cajun squeezebox, with Jo-El Sonnier in an old clip from Sanborn's 'NIGHT MUSIC' NBC Series: I love to see him play this 95mph fastball version of Richard Thompson's 'Tear-Stained Letter' with a stage full of NYC session stalwarts (and Richard himself) hangin' on for dear life ! Turn this up LOUD ! !

It will be one of the regrets of my life that I never lived somewhere between the Texas line and Baton Rouge along Interstate 10 in Acadiana. Wonderful people, great food, and they love music and musicians. If you EVER get a chance to gig down there or spend time there, GO !

Love me some Cajun music. I grew up on the Texas Louisiana border. It is always a happy sound that make you want to grab another beer and dance.

Reactions: Cheez and 40Hz
Corey Pesaturo: I see him yearly in Lexington MA where he plays a for a children's music lessons benefit, he's one of the best all around musicians I've ever had the pleasure to see, and he's normal (although though of as superhuman after he plays) even does a TED Talk and consults with Rolland.
Pauline Oliveros: classical music/minimalist ambient artist who taught something she called "deep listening" to her many students. not entertaining, more spiritual perhaps here's Her TED Talk
Guy Klucevsek: I first heard him on ECM recordings in the 80s. Amazing musician. Here he is with Dave Douglas. I didn't look for his TED Talk.

This is also a great documentary. I believe there's a subtitled version as well . It tells the story of how a German shipment to Argentina ended up in coastal Colombia leading tothe adoption and funkification of the accordion.
