Your favorite bass, ever?

It's not that I love this bass. I owe this bass. I was about to start gigging with a band of ex-pros who, oddly enough, had a set list that was pretty damn challenging for me, the guy who worked at the wine shop. I needed a confidence-builder. I needed a bass that would be really, really easy to play. Eventually, I got my confidence back, and I don't use it as often as I once did. Sold it, in fact! And then, through the miracle of tb, I was able to buy it back. It is still my security blanket. Birdsong cBass 31" scale, from Scott Beckwith's first batch of 20. Painted by John Widman, a luthier who just happened to be our lead guitarist's neighbor. In those days in Asheville NC, if you could throw a rock 50 feet, you'd break a window in a luthier's house.

The one I have played the most and gigged the most that I trust fully is this 88 Sabre in trans blue. I think I’m on the fence about a Kubicki ExFactor I owned but I sold it for a semester of tuition and books and I suppose thanks to that sad decision I can afford more basses than I would ever need. But anyway, this I think is my favorite.

My D-Huff Jazz bass, going on 14 years now. I also had a pretty amazing Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray that I'd love to have back. Other then that the Jazz has always beat out everything i've owned along side it.

Certainly not the most expensive nor the oldest but this Yamaha TRBX604 is the one that checks all the boxes for me. I think if there was a fire and I could only grab one, it would probably be this. If my SB-2 was a pound lighter, I might be grabbing that one instead.

i've had "favorite bass ever" axes in every era/part of my musical life as a bass player. i've only had a few --- 2, or 3, tops.

the rest are "second favorite bass" ....funny how that turned out.

I have always owned way more basses than I need, but if I only had time to save just one before hauling azz down the street screaming in advance of an imminent sharknado I wouldn't even think twice.

Great Bass. Great color combo. BTW - lived on Campbell BLVD in Roesedale/Nottingham MD for a while. Loved the place. Good memories of the crab pretzel at the Olde Philadelphia Inn!

I bought the white eagle just because I have always wanted one, I expected it to be a favorite due to nostalgia, I didn’t expect it to be my favorite.

28 years ago I got a '79 p-bass in a trade. My first "good" bass. I know that's relative but...So many gigs, recording and just loaded with memories. That's the one I'll never sell.
