Your favorite bass ever

Mine would be my Musicman Sterling

Second Favorite would be my 1992 MIM Jazz Bass w/ 70's Vintage Electronics, Badass II Bridge, and Schaller Tuners

I've got 2 as well.

1983 Rickenbacker...I had all black pickguards made by a friend of a friend...he was murdered a few days after he finished them for me so the bass was black on black. I also had an EMG and a Bart pickups put on and a badass bridge. I was 19 years old, stoned and hacking up a mint condition Rickenbacker, but it ended up sounding really good..got constant compliments about my sound. Sold it to some guy in Chicago for 400 bux.

1992 Ibanez Soundgear 950...maple bass with ebony fretboard..I had EMG's put in...I was listening to some old cassettes the other night of that thing recorded, fantastic tone.

I've had about 600 pass through over the years...

out of all of them the 2 that stand out were a Carvin J"ish" stereo (haven't seen one like it since) and

a no name store brand had 34 scale.. p/j pickups.. bronze metallic paint.. rosewood fingerboard.. copied gotoh hardware..

Reason these both were gems as they played/sounded comparable to my snobby botique and vintage guitars both at the $100 price tag.

Like several other people posting here, I've had enough time to refine my collection to the stage where I'm pretty attached to several of the basses I own for their various qualities. But if I had to pick a favourite, I'd cheat and pick two. :D

These are my Status necked Jazz sisters. The (lined) fretless is on the right - when I put it together, I loved it so much I had to do the fretted version shown on the left to go with it.

I must take some better pics of the fretless, I still haven't managed to capture the look of that beautiful quilt top because my photography sucks.

I have loved this bass since the day I bought it new and have had and sold a lot of way more expensive basses that didn't hold a candle to it construction or tone wise. My Fiesta Red Classic 50's P my wife nicknamed pinky:

My son really likes it though Im trying to tell him to start off with two handed tapping techniques :smug:
