I did recordings with it and it just bugged me too much so I sold it. I think it's a great chorus though. I now have a Analog Man Mini Chorus which is great, but I think I like the sound of the Stereo Clone Theory better.

I did recordings with it and it just bugged me too much so I sold it. I think it's a great chorus though. I now have a Analog Man Mini Chorus which is great, but I think I like the sound of the Stereo Clone Theory better.
BBE mind bender. Almost too easy to use, and it sounds really nice. It also has some vibrato for a nice change.
I've only tried 2.
The Boss Bass Chorus which I didn't like at all and the Hardwire Chorus.
Still have the Hardwire and I think it sounds great.
No bass loss at all, lots of headroom and it almost has too many good sounds. I keep mine on Analog setting but all of them sound useful and can be altered with the Speed and Depth knobs.
I like it a lot, I wanted to find a used Analogman Mini Chorus, but since I never did I'm really happy with the Hardwire.

I currently use the EHX Small Clone, but love the HBE THC - one of the best chorus pedals I have played. The Guyatone Microchorus (or whatever it is called) is quite awesome too!!

DLS Chorus-Vibe.
Applied subtly it works great for bass, as low notes get a nice treatment without losing presence. This is a very musical sounding pedal. At $200 its not cheap, but you could pay a lot more to get to this level of quality.
Upside:
Dead quiet.
Crystal clear sound without sounding brittle or sterile.
Powerful, with big range.
No volume spikes or dropouts.
High build quality, made in USA.
Downside:
Large size.
Input and output jacks are not ideally located.

I know this is a stale thread but I has to put my vote in for the Diamond Halo Chorus. It sounds amazing. It has some internal trim pots that can be used to increase delay time and change the LFO sweep.
Its dead quiet, suffers from no volume or low end loss, is dead simple to set up and has a subtle but sweet sounding phaser built in that can be blended with chorus for a subtle swirl.
I had to get a custom cable to power it with my Voodoo Labs PP2+ but it was worth it to have such a sweet sounding lush chorus.
The only real downside is the price, but I am only buying the pedals I truly want instead of just getting something that will do. This is my last stop on the Chorus pedal GAS train for awhile.

I have no way to record clips right now unfortunately. I can tell you that the Halo was a little too subtle for my tastes until I read the instruction sheet, opened her up and turned up the delay time trimpot inside. The trimpot is marked with three settings and comes from the factory set to a moderate level. Increasing it to the higher setting and even tweaking it a little further yielded the most lush rich chorus that really sounds beautiful.

I have the yellow 18v MXR Stereo Chorus at home so I did an A'B comparison. i really like the MXR but despite having bass and treble controls on it, I couldn't get the warmth and lush chorus across the entire tonal spectrum from it that the Halo provides.
I had given up on chorus for bass after trying various Boss versions, the XO Clone Theory and the MXR, but this one is a keeper for sure.
I wish I could post a clip. I haven't even tried it in stereo yet. According to the manual, the chorus and phase are coming at you from separate channels and the effect is very spacial and wide.
The Diamond even has an internal switch to adjust the gain structure for using the pedal in an effects loop or a rack mounted type system. Very cool company. They respond to email's immediately. Mine had the power supply missing from the box. I emailed Diamond and they sent one in the mail the next day. They also helped me figure out exactly what cable was needed to power the Halo with a Voodoo labs Pedalpower. I am really impressed with Diamond and hope that they market a few bass specific effects soon.

I'm gonna second RCCollins back on the first page. The BOSS CE-5 Chorus Ensemble is very nice, and having the dual filter (hi and lo) makes it a lot more versatile than you'd think.
Adds a nice creamy, smooth chorus without being overpowering. Oftentimes I stick it on and just leave it on for a whole practice session to 'fill' the room I'm practicing in more.

Excellent review! I've heard great things about Diamond pedals but holy-moly they sure are spendy. And I thought that Analogman's chorus was expensive.
I've been saving for a good chorus after I sold my Fulltone Choralflange. At my rate of saving it's going to take awhile.

lately i've been looking for a Chorus Pedal to put on my board to complete my sound.
i've tried some from T-Rex Sweeper to T-Rex Twister, didn't like them. it sounds bland to me. i tried the Empress Chorus, didn't work for me either. i got the CR-7 which i think sounds better for my taste and matches my Sad MS5 high output pick ups, but then i found the CS-9 Pro which i find much tighter sounding than the CR-7. but just a bit subtle for my taste, i could have kept it but it clips due to my bass high output PU. been around trying some more and i just realized that what i'm looking for is the familiar sound of my old Analogman Mini Chorus which i bought last year and sold to a fellow TBer. until now i still regret it... so the only solution, i bought me another one! and i am very happy now. i will never sell it again! period! so help me god!

I love my modified EHX Small Clone...it's got a depth and a blend pot, which make it possible to keep the punch (I'm a bass player) while using this effect
There was a mention of the Red Witch Empress chorus earlier. Has anyone actually tried this pedal?
It seems to be designed in the same vein as the Diamond Halo. But it operates on a 9 volt supply, which is a plus. Ben Fuller seems to be a very cool fellow too. (I wish that he would put bass clips on his site like Diamond has

i tried the Red Witch Empress chorus in my friend's shop. i don't know, but it didn't respond that well with the bass. with the guitar it sounds great. maybe its just the passive bass that i tried it with? even my friend who owns the shop was surprised, we both thought that it would sound great on bass, but it did not.
if it did, i already got it instead of my new (again) AM MIni with fixed deep setting and mix knob.
