Fair enough. It's just that I think sometimes some styles of humour don't travel well. Also, I think the media outlets in many countries don't reflect diversity very well at all, even in these Internet-enlightened days.

Funny is funny. I've heard some standups comment on how sarcasm doesn't translate in some places. But generally, if you're doing comedy in English speaking countries and you're funny? You're going to go over. And that's probably why a number of the guys I mentioned who are from England, Scotland, Australia, etc have even managed to get movie & TV deals in the United States.

I'm only surprised because for some reason lots of people consider him the greatest comedian ever and I've never felt that way at all.

I've seen lots of his stuff with and the most he's ever gotten out of me was a chuckle.

I did enjoy most of his 80's movies with Gene Wilder but only because they just happened to be funny movies.

His stand up never did it for me.

Oh i did forget Russell Brand. This man is far more clever than he lets on. He has terrible taste in women though but it's possible he's just taking the piss. After all he DID post a picture of Katy Perry in bed without makeup. I don't think she is attractive either way, but she looks like a completely different person without it (i've seen her without in other occasions). I bet he felt the world was being fooled and wanted to show the truth.

About Pryor. He was very influential, he broke grounds. Without him there's at least no Eddie Murphy and no Chris Rock and that's just mentioning the obvious ones. But i don't think his humor aged well because others took his style and improved on it.

Ok forgot that guy too. Some of my favorite quotes in the world were uttered by Groucho. To be fair, most of the quotes attributed to him where said in one of the Marx movies and its hard to know whether he came up with all those lines or not (though later in his life on talk shows and other things he proved that he could be plenty funny on his own). The first time i ever went out with who would become my current gf, we went to a dessert place and had some food and when the bill came i said "10$!? That's outrageous! If i were you I wouldn't pay it." (a quote from A Night at the Opera) and handed her the bill. He's always good to steal lines from (of course, i did pay it)
