Actually, I have the greatest admiration for every drummer mentioned. Me, I break into a swea just watching them.

What band did Jeff Porcaro play with? If it's that studio band I'm thinking of, with all due respect, I always thought he played really "weanie, wimpy" style. Maybe it was just the songs.

Is this for real? Karen Carpenter was really a decent drummer? One of the best voices of all time IMHO - didn't know anything about drumming though.

She wasn't a monster, by any stretch...she was at most "competent" (as a drummer) - but I thought she actually made some nice choices in that video, rhythmically speaking.

This reminds me - the other day my nine year old son told me his favorite drummers were:

Neil Peart, Ringo Star, Carmine Apice, then a tie between Terrio Bozio, Tim "Herb" Alexander, and Brian "Brain" Mantia... and he figured that Chad Wackerman fit in there somewhere too...

I stopped and thought to myself "how many nine year old kids even know any of those names besides Ringo?"

have you heard "jake the bone", if that's whimpy i don't know what to say to you......

he also played for Steely Dan, Dire Straits, Micheal Jackson (the whole thriller album and on others too), Bruce Springsteen,pink floyd!, don henley (who is an excellent drummer himself).....

do you really think these people would have wanted him on their albums if he weren't any good.

i love the guy......
