How the neck looks is only half of it. An unfinished neck will be at the mercy of every change in the weather, and you'll be ever fiddling with the trussrod to keep it straight. Even a wax only finish is better than nothing.

That was also my point. Heck even mineral oil will work well.

Thanks, guys. I'll plan on applying a couple coats of FNW to the neck, then.

Here's the body after a couple coats of FNW.

I'm gonna test the FNW on my finish test block for my SBO project bass and see if it upgrades the look of the finish I put on that body, too.

Thanks to everyone that recommend Howard's Feed N Wax. I finally got the bass together and it's honesty the second most beautiful in my collection (my Capri Orange Dingwall will always be #1). I don't remember how many coats I applied, but I put it on by hand, slathering it on while wearing a nitrile glove, let it soak for a while, then used a microfiber cloth to wipe it down and buff it.
