I replaced the stock pickups in my US Deluxe P with a Fender '62 and DiMarzio Ultrajazz. I now get the P sound that I was after (more vintage, less modern) and a fuller sound from the bridge pickup. They work very well separately and blended, active and passive. If money hadn't been a consideration I'd have probably gone for the Lindy Fralin set, but I'm very happy with what I've got and this bass gets played more than any of the others.
