Your favorite vocalist...

Wow TB is OLD :roflmao:

That being said - I’ll throw out Layne Staley as an old - but not quite as old - option. When he sang, his entire body voiced the note. The emotion that only desperation can bring. Tragic life but god what a voice.

Newer - Brian Aubert from Silversun Pickups. Raspy raw goodness.

Current - laugh if you want, but Lady Gaga can sing virtually anything (have you heard her with Tony Bennett?) And Pentatonix and Lake Street Dive. Dayum.

Yes! Rachel Price from Lake Street Dive...She’s awesome! Saw them at the Fillmore here in San Francisco a couple of months ago. What a great show.

Marcy Levy, one of Eric Clapton’s best back up singers. I really liked her work on The Core and others...

^ big yes for Marcy Levy

I like what Gaga brought to this track:

Layne Staley would certainly be my favorite rock vocalists of the last 30 years. Emotion for sure.

Get the hell out of my yard.

Currently, male and female:

Devin Townsend -
Dude is ridiculously talented and embarrassingly humble about it.

Agnes Obel -
Haunting, powerful, fragile and unique.
She's amazing.

Honorable mention to:

Hannah Reid -
Love her with London Grammar.

Taylor Kirk -
Like a sonic opiate with Timber Timbre.

As far as current go, I like Anthony Hamilton and Charlie Wilson.

My current favorite female singers are mostly blues singers that are under the radar as far as the general public is concerned.

I've worked with Diunna Greenleaf in the past. She sings blues well, but when she sings gospel acapella I'm done.

There is no sound on the computer I'm on so I don't know if this is decent quality or not. Apologies if not.

Paul Rodgers
Ray Charles & in his backup singers, The Raelets = Marjorie Hendricks, incredible voice, sadly a short life.
Little Richard
Susan Tedeschi
Linda Lewis.....terrific range
Elkie Brooks
early Rod Stewart
Pavarotti
Lowell George
Freddie Mercury
Steve Perry

I love a bunch of ‘soul singers’ like:
*Bobby Bland
*Gladys Knight
*Jimmy Cliff
*Dionne Warwick
*George Jones
*Joni Mitchell
*Merle Haggard
*Chaka Khan

And I also love some pop singers who are somewhat ‘plain speaking’:
*Gene Autry
*Fred Astaire
*Willie Nelson
*Art Garfunkel
*Karen Carpenter

And some ‘rockers’:
*Elvis
*John Lennon
*Bowie
*Ozzy
*Chris Cornell
*Paul Rodgers
