Tom, I found a direct comparison you did between the ML112 and the GK Neo 112 II, and the Baer sounds more up my alley. I also found this link, which has recorded examples that show the kind of high end response you can get without a tweeter, and it sounds pretty good to me! Invalid Link Removed

I'm thinking I'll be going the Baer route. That said, I'm not extremely patient, and a slave to economics, so we'll see what pops up used in the Classifieds section first. But I'm thinking Baer or FF at this point. 12s, 2 of em.
