Right now it's my Pigtronix Echolution, but I'd love to try a Strymon and a Memory Man.
I still haven't worked through all of its capabilities. Supposedly I got the last non-programmable Echolution from the factory.
I have a few delays in my collection. But when it comes to analog warmth, and just the sound of it, my favorite is the DOD Fx90. Although I will say this, it doesn't do the trails when disengaged which I love. But I'm not sure any OG analog delays do anyways
I was looking into one of these before I got a Carbon Copy. I don't use much delay though.Hardwire DL-8. It's small (slightly bigger than a boss box), you can tap tempo the delay rate, has a nice variety of delay styles, it can also do looping, and best of all, when disengaged it will let the delay decay out (tails). It's a good versatile little box.
I love this delay. I have a way around trails cutting out too: I go into an A/B/Y box. bass into Y, A goes to delay then into the return on a Lehle Parallel M, B goes into the input on the Lehle, Lehle output goes to amp. that way the delay (and other things) are switchable and I have a return that is always on.
Interesting and I happen to have a ABY box as well. It's been a while since I chimed in this thread. Not really a way around it but what I've settled on/been into lately, has been this stacking delay craze. More of a ambient application and for drones and such. But for the trails scenario if im stacking say the fx90 followed by a digital pedal those usually have a trail option available so disengaging the fx90 then followed by disengaging the digital delay gets me there somewhat.
The Zoom MS 60b has several pretty good delays by they way and for those interested in messing around with stacking delays I highly recommend it since you essential can put up to 4 delays into one patch. Regardless though even the zoom hasnt knocked out the DOD FX90 off as my favorite delay of all time. Just sounds so sweet![]()
It's my fav sounding for sure. Have you ever had problems with yours? I've had two - one apparently from 1984 and another slightly newer one. the old one started shorting out, like the repeats would distort and eventually end up cutting out after one repeat. It would sound fine at sound check then crap our during a set. So I got the newer one, and that one's got pitch warble and time shift like crazy. Not completely undesirable all the time but it's been making me want to get a DD-7 just for reliability.
My favorite delay is when my wife and I are getting ready to go out somewhere and she decides we have time for a quickie before leaving.
But does she have tap tempo?hahaha
Does she get noisy when bypassed?
Surprised there's not more love for the Carbon Copy. Picked one up last week and its already earned a permanent spot on my board. Smooth, warm analog delay with a nifty adjustable modulation switch. It even oscillates great and is pretty simple to control.
The only negative thing I can think of at this point is that the pedal can drive into self-oscillation a bit too easily depending on how you have your settings. All comes down to finding a combo that works but if you're not careful, it can get a bit wild.
Can you update the firmware?
Not so far as I know. It's this model:

Love the tone of the boss space echo emulation. Somewhat noisy, but I wonder if it's my pedal power supply... But the grainy echo sound it has is just what I like
Sonofa......I need one of those so bad. Patience......The Catalinbread Echorec.
