Your favourite delay

Trails...

... a good delay has to be able to do trails.

Has to? No, not really. It's a feature, it's not always the right thing. Many people don't use delay for repeats, and in that case you would not want trails necessarily.

I think a better way to put it, is that it would be great if all delay pedals had a switch to toggle it on and off.

LEAST FAVORITE DELAY: Waiting for my Beat Buddy and Digitech Drop that are allegedly coming tomorrow.

It was a joke, Col.
My post you quoted was a joke following on the risqué jokes found earlier in the thread, a bit of "Nudge Nudge, Wink Wink, Say no Moarrrr..."

For me my line 6 m5. It's been a great addition. Delays happen to be an area where it shines. Like being able to have presets. It does have tap tempo but I've never been very good at using tap tempo so id rather just use presets. It's probably the pedal i use the most. Mostly because i use it for about just about everything other than dirt and whammy, it's even my tuner. Probably should have just gotten the m9 though would have been nice to have the m9 looper functions.

Does the carbon copy have tails? I have 4 delays and only one has tails....
No it doesn't have trails, one of the reasons I got rid of it was because it didn't but obviously you're not looking for trails so it'd probably work for you!
But I have to say I liked not having trails on the CC when I had it because when I'd be doing some analog delay oscillation-noise it was nice to turn it all off immediately at the push of a footswitch.

Endangered Audio Research AD4096

Dirty, dusky, lo-fi, super unique sounding delay. Nothing else like it, its refreshing to use a delay that doesn't just try to emulate a tape delay.
Nice. I really wanna try one of these.

My current delay is a SMM w Hazarai. I like that it can double as a flanger, reverb & looper when you're not using delay.... very flexible pedal.
Pretty interested in the DMB Lunar & AD4096 though, would love to hear what they're like.

No! Actually, I do want one that actually has trails.... Been thinking about having the Moog Delay upgrade done, but I don't use that delay with my bass all that often. Want to add a delay with trails to my rig fo sho

Actually, my boss space echo does have them, but again, I don't use it that often on bass rig (vox mostly)

Right now it's my Pigtronix Echolution, but I'd love to try a Strymon and a Memory Man.

Had an echolution, sold it to guitar player. I liked some things about it, but it wasn't as warm as Moog Delay, and not as simply awesome as E600 Dark.

If I could have afforded to keep it and barely use it, I would have, on it's potential alone. OH! I remember, the one thing that pissed me off, and the main reason I sold it, was that the exp pedal only controls delay time!! So, it has tap tempo, and exp for time, but not for feedback? Let's be honest, we are way more interested in riding feedback ctrl with exp pedal than delay time.

I've thought about asking guitard to sell it back - after I left the band he started playing mandolin and hasn't touched any gear since.

I'm finding I'm not using many effects on bass at this point, but I'm using the hell out of them when I play keys. For that application the Echolution is awesome, especially when combined with my Darkglass VMT.

I've yet to use an expression pedal, so I can't comment on that application.

I'm about to put in an order for a custom delay/reverb from Codtone, an Australian maker. Pretty keen to see how it turns out, you don't see a lot of aussie gear around.
Would be nice > I've been contemplating getting him to make up a pedal for me too.

RE: Aussie stuff, there's plenty of it in Australia.
Cracking the USA market is a toughie for aussie builders, so much so that during the 90's and early 00's many of them were selling their products cheaper in the USA than back home. Proof if this, was that I was able to buy an aussie made MI Audio Neo Fuzz from PGS + post, and it was still cheaper than buying it at home.
In the past this was true for aussie made cars too.

That might have more to do other the prevalence of high-turnaround online stores like PGS and Prymaxe in the US that can undersell smaller shops. You will see that those shops will often price stuff significantly below other US retailers as well. It's possible that they have a bulk price deal with MI Audio, or just sell more of them at a slimmer profit margin.

Is that the minifooger you're talking about upgrading? Because that would be sweet, and exactly what I would want in my delay.

No, the mooger 104z. I keep forgetting there's another moog delay now!! So, for the original, they have a factory mod that adds a switch to allow you to add trails to your signal. Apparently, it's a little involved, with trace cutting, drilling, so on, so they haven't publicly divulged how to do it. They want $100 for the pleasure, which is pricey - but it is an amazing studio delay, and well, for anything else you can think of as well.

I hate moog, they addded that other line of pedals and as I nearly had all the moogers, it has restored more GAS than I can bear!

it's a very unique sounding pedal. fortunately, it's my sound.

I am a die hard fan of Live at Pompeii, it pretty much influences everything I do on bass guitar... So I'm totally getting one. Not working at present, but that will change soon, and then, I shall have an echorec. Does the Echorec trail off?
