i would say Ian Hill of Judas Priest but his early days of jazz bass were deep and flubby, now that i think of it. Tim Commerford from RATM, has a nice tone but i think he used a stingray, but that is the tone i lust after.

Yeah, Flabba playing the Stagalag is the business.So many to choose from. Flabba Holt comes to mind for reggae. Not a Fender, but Will Lee on his Sadowsky Jazzes sounds perfect to me.
