Your Favourite Jazz Bass Tone/Player?

i would say Ian Hill of Judas Priest but his early days of jazz bass were deep and flubby, now that i think of it. Tim Commerford from RATM, has a nice tone but i think he used a stingray, but that is the tone i lust after.

This might sound odd…

Craig MacGregor from Foghat Jazz bass tone.

Yes, you are reading that correctly.
Listen to that live tone…I dig it and I think He was one of the first to adopt the Dimarzio Model Js.

I'm not good at favorites.

In no particular order:

Dave Alexander with The Stooges

Romi Mori with The Gun Club

Tracy Pew with The Birthday Party

John Paul Jones

Joseph "Lucky" Scott with Curtis Mayfield

Bootsy Collins with The J.B.'s

Alan Henderson with Them

Aston "Family Man" Barrett

Does John Entwistle count?

I mistakenly (massively) omitted :

Holger Czukay with The Can/Can and many collaborations. He played a Mustang and a Jazz.

Herbie Flowers with you know...

Klaus Fluoride with Dead Kennedys

Not sure that ever would have popped into my head, but you're absolutely right.

Gonna go listen to Foghat Live now. It's been a while but I still listen to it once in a while. Great blues rock as far as I'm concerned.
