No ****! My first electric bass was a piece of crap Encore short scale. I beat the crap out of it until I got my Rickenbacker six years later. I still have it. It's here with me now. It's pretty damned beat up. But the thing is that is was well used. My son, will be picking it up next!

I have a Guild B-301 Bass. My dad bought it for me when I got into my first band - friends in my class at uni!!! We just messed around and learned some covers and stuff! Still have it, and occasionally play it - still sounds good too. I can't bring myself to part with it.
For now I'll just let it sit in it's hard case appreciating! It might really be worth something in another 25 years!!!

My first bass that I actually owned is a Fender Squier Precision, black with white guard. I upgraded it with a black guard and bridge cover. I plan on upgrading the electronics as soon as I get the money.
I never plan on getting rid of it. I would sell/trade my Yamaha if I found a good deal, but not my Squier. Too many memories.

First was a Peavey Fury. It's sitting in my cupboard in many pieces, awating an appropriate show for smashing it 
I have zero sentimental attachment to that bass. It's plywood. The neck is twisted and backbowed. The pickups are insanely weak.
What a piece.
I will give it the fact that it played much better than my friend's Samick when we first started taking bass in band class when we were 12...

My first bass was a Fender Squire P-bass, a very nice bass to begin with IMO. Sold it last year......
I just got my first bass, MIM Fender Jazz. I love it! I can't wait until I can actually play it.
Money talks...when I started out playing I had very little dough so I needed to sell my first bass once I had bought a bass to replace it.
I was playing for over 10 years before I could really afford to buy a new bass without selling an older one, even then it was because of raises at my day job not any increase in gig income.

I had a brazilian Jazz bass copy from a brand called Kondo. A friend had a Kondo Strat, so I knew they were decent, although I had never heard of it. I sold it after I got an Ibanez Roadstar (Yes, it was that much better). That was 10+ years ago.

I had a really crappy Hohner Rockwood Pro P copy. It didn't actually play that badly except for a bit of fretbuzz. However I sold it a couple of months after I bought it second hand for £50 with a little amp as well. I sold it for £100 to some girl in my year, if I hadn't sold it I wouldn't have been able to buy my 'lovely' Ibanez Soundgear 5 string (now also sold). I kinda wish I'd kept it now, maybe defretted it but when I have stuff I never think of things like that... Ah well...

I doubt I will ever sell my first bass. First off, it's currently still my only bass and second, I couldn't even put a price on the sentimental value of this thing. It may not be the best playing bass or the best sounding bass, but it will always be my first bass.

Good 'ol Squier P-Bass. My first and only. I love the thing and i think its just sick how i prefer that to 500 dollar + Ibanez, Schecter, or Fender American P-Bass. You can't go wrong with a Squier P-bass.

My first bass was a Japanese copy of a Hofner Beatle bass,a Conrad.I traded it in on a Framus hollowbody similer to the one Bill Wyman played with the Stones.Neither of these basses sounded very good but they had small necks that were easy to learn on.My first real bass was a Gibson EBO,although it also had a small neck and sounded like mud.I don't miss any of those basses,but regret having to part with most of the basses I've sold or traded since.
My first Bass was a Harmony P-Bass copy, i hated it so much that i beat it with a hammer when the pickups cut out. I got about 20 bucks out of it. I'll never play a harmony again in my life.
