Your Gig Rig

Buddy-

You are welcome my friend. Enjoy your new Crest lead sled you lucky dog. Hmmmmm, preamp recommendations. Let's see. Well, I took a look at your homepage and you listed an Alembic F-1x but I don't see it in your rig photo - it's my fave!

But if you do indeed have one - and in looking at what else you've already got - I'd probably give a close look at the Avalon U5. Not much flexibility in terms of EQ, not a lot of adjustment capability, just plain ol' studio preamplifier glory that can make a $100 Sam Ash special sound bigger than a Fodera. Considering your bass collection looks like you have a a lot of on-board adjustment capability already, I think the need for EQ adjustment on the preamp is negated somewhat.
Just my two cents! Let me know what you wind up doing.

Lonnybass

Thanks Lonny. I do still have the f1X and I usu often. Good advice on the Avalon. I had one when I ran my studio but sold it a few years back. I recently sold a Universal Audio Solo 610 too. Both great for recording. Maybe a U5 is in my future. Thanks so much.

I don't have any pics of my current stage rig, but it's a GK1001rbII with a BBE MaxCom compressor/sonic maximizer, through a Peavey Tour 410. If I'm on a very large stage, I add an Avatar B210. I play a passive Warwick Corvette Standard 5 and a Spector Legend Custom 5. My pedal setup is a Boss TU-2 tuner, a EHX Q-Tron, and a Boss Blues Driver modified by Kindness.

Life is great.

I'm liking it. It's got a lot of features on it that's for sure! I'm just using the basic effects on it for now...I've got the FCB1010 pedal too. I really need to get off here and go sit down with it so that I can get it programmed. Overall I'm very pleased with it especially for the price. It could do a lot more than what I'm using it for as I don't use too many effects.

With the exceptions that I sold the prometheus and replaced it with a Chunk OS and EHX nano small stone, and my latest gigs I've been using my DJ5 instead of the 78.

Good to hear! I've been thinking about picking one up. I know that Behringer doesn't have the best reputation here on TB and I usually am a Line 6 fan but I've been bored lately and have been wanting a "toy" that isn't too expensive. Thank again,
Brent

This replaced my DB750 mainly because I have 4 screws in my back
and i needed something lighter with great tone. TF in that regard is
a good replacement

Alembic F-1X & QSC 2402 Backup Rig
This rig has the versatility Bridged mono - 2-4 and 8 ohm capable
I can change preamps and still have overhead and o yeah, 2 ohm's
And these rigs are light enough that I haven't found it necessary
to go with the more popular mini feather weight heads.
