Your go to strings

I'm sure this topic has been discussed a million times over but here goes one more. I've been a loyal Ernie ball super slinky player for the last 16 years. And for some reason I'm finding myself very gun shy on decided on trying something new. I love the tone I get out of the slinky's, but I wonder if there's something out there just just sounds better. As vague as that is, what's your go to strings and why?
Optima unique gold rounds. Usually, the Chrome rounds for recording.

I’ve tried lots of different strings, and I always come back to DR Nickle Lo-Riders every time. It’s like clockwork... I’ll try a new string I’ve never tried before, and then I’m right back to the DR’s, because new said string isn’t cutting it for me.

I recently put a set of GHS Round Core RC-6ML-DYB Boomers on my fretless six.

Played through my amp at practice last night.
Love the round,full tone!
I think I have a new favorite!

Try eBay man. Under 20 a set. I can tell you that makes me cringe at the fact I just ordered cobalts. I have a bass my drummer owns that in "servicing" that might get those cobalts. I don't think my strings make it more than 2 or 3 months. I like that brand new out of the package twang. But that also fits the style of music that I play. If any of you guys dig that broken in string sound I'll stop cutting the "old" ones in half and start selling them as.......reliced?
I don’t like strings with original lice or replacement lice.

Not sure how anybody can make a recommendation without first asking what kind of music you are playing and what kind of bass they are going on, and what kind of tone you want.
I play ska/punk bass for a generic way to decribe it. It quite a bit more intricate than your typical band of that genre. I like that fresh string punchy tone you get in the first month of a pack of EB super slinkys. As far as what bass it's a toss up between a P with CS62s, a J with CS60s, a MM Sr4, or a MM sterling 4. I don't expect anyone to be able to tell me what I should play, I just wanna know what everyone else's flavor Is and why. I see a few repeat answers and I figure I'll just start going through and trying em. A list of 8 different strings from 100 other players is an easier choice than vast array out there.

I take it you want something that delivers a buttload of top and keeps its zing for a long time? I'd say if you like the EB's, stick with em. They're fine strings. I think you would really dig either DR Sunbeams or Hi-Beams (or Neons if you're feeling adventurous) though. They just WORK for that application. I'm going to be looking into Dunlop Super Brites because I've heard good things about them too.

The hi beams and super brights are getting bought this week after what I've been seeing in the thread. And yes that's what I'm gunning for. Lots of zing. Ive been playing the P with Duncan QPs that I tossed XL g
Flats on last night all morning and I will say I think they sound pretty bad ass on this particular bass. Little deeper than my normal style, but really really nice

Hey that's great dude! Maybe you will say to yourself 'damn, these flats are usable!' after a bit more tinkering? Don't take my word for it, I don't like flats one iota haha. Let me know your impressions on the Dunlops aye?

Cool, that is helpful. I would suggest trying DR HiBeams, and also Warrior Big Bottoms if they are still available. Also Sadowsky Blue Labels (and not Black Label based on your preferences).

I don't know about ever using em outside the house. I don't think the sound would be right in the mix with the whole band. I'll be sure to update the thread on whatever I try.
