Your Look On Stage

IMO, one of the sharpest looking bands on the national scene is Vintage Trouble:

They're not too bad at playing the blues, oldies, and Motown-inspired rock 'n roll either. ;)

My playing speaks for me not my clothes.

My playing AND my clothes speak for me. Assuming I'm approximately even with you talent-wise, that means I'm speaking twice as loud. Who's gonna get heard first, and get the most attention?

Side note, IMO (also IMGFO) fedoras are really only acceptable when paired with a suit.

Majority of the time I go onstage with cargo shorts and a solid black shirt. Don't really care about Image. A solid black shirt does make natural wood basses look good though. The cargo shorts is just about not getting so hot moving around on stage.

Actually I like to see people dress outside of what's expected. Saw "after the burial" a little while back. one of the guitar players came out in an striped polo shirt looking all prepy. But they kicked butt. Personally that's more metal to me then wearing black with jeans and chains and goofy wrist bands an all.

I think if your young and great looking and in shape cargo shorts are fine.

These guys really get it when it comes to defining a look or image for themselves. Most bands don’t.

I think there are guys that come from backgrounds where fashion and sense of style are non-existent.

I know several guys that don’t even have a clue what sort of clothes look good on them.

There are guys that will show up for a gig with their work clothes on.

Then there are guys that are over weight and take the "I don't care" attitude. They feel because they are over weight nothing looks good. I say there is a look for everyone no matter your size of shape.

And there are some here that think wearing cool appropriate threads doesn’t even matter.
