Honestly, Valverde's pitches were pretty damn good, those are not easy balls to hit.

The A's have nothing to lose. They were picked to lose 100 games this year. There playing on borrowed money/time.

Valverde has done this several times this year including the season opener against the Red Sox, spoiling Verlander's season debut. He's a symbol of ridicule of Tigers fans and has a lot of fans looking at Leyland like it may be his time to go. There are mixed emotions about the issue since he never blew a save all last year. This year, however, he's blown more than enough and last night's game was the last straw, for me at least. Even my wife, who's not a sports fan at all, wonders why he's still the closer.

No score and just 3 hits so far in the Reds/Giants do or die game. Francisco Romo said on the radio this morning that the whole team has been wearing the same street clothes since they got to Cincinatti. I wouln't want to be on a bus with those guys.
