Things are looking up for the Mets, huh? IMO, they need a reliable number three and serviceable number 4 and 5 (Niese can be one of those) to back up Harvey and Wheeler, someone to protect Wright in the lineup so he gets some pitches to hit (if only Davis would be the 30 hr player he seemed to be becoming :mad: )

I think next year, if Alderson is allowed to spend, and if the right free agents are available, the Mets could be really good.

i'll give this quote the respect it deserves......

BUT....i don't recall saying anything about WINNING the WS....i said something about getting to the WS....

and, BTW, I'm awfully sorry about all those Bobby Cox years, where the Mets just KNEW this was going to be their year...only to have their hopes crushed year after year.....:D

and, of course, the PO's and WS are still a long way away and anything can happen, but if i were you, i would ask the SL Cards about the braves...i think they are getting hot at exactly yhe right time...but....we'll see.....you can't win the WS until you GET TO the WS, and the Braves, like everybody else, are a long way from that at the moment

Gee isn't bad...neither is this new Meidlen (sic) kid. Davis...Strike out king. Overall they've been playing decent ball with the talent they have.

I live north of Denver and enjoy the Rockies. I don't get too heated up about W/L records unless a team is hopelessly buried in the basement or winning their division. I'm also a Mariners fan, so there's not much excitement in either camp this year.

It's entertainment. I go to the park, have a beer, kill a few hours, enjoy my wife's company there...sometimes I get one or both daughters to come along, which is always cool.

I just hope our guys get good and Crane decides to keep them around instead of following the McLane example of "trade our good guys for young blood and hope they pan out" strategy.

They still haven't really had to face the quandary of having 4 highly-paid, highly-productive outfielders. If Kemp, Crawford, Ethier, and Puig are all healthy and hitting well, who do you sit? This is one reason why it's actually been beneficial to the team that Kemp has been on the DL so much.

I'm really looking forward to having Ramirez back on the field. On top of being a fantastic player, he brings such a great attitude with him.

I would rest Ethier first--played 114 games. Then Crawford not that he needs it. Puig has only played 61 games.
Yes Ramirez' performance & attitude won fans over quickly. It's odd some players ocme up to bat, they're batting almost 300 yet get a lukewarm reception at the plate.

Much as I may hate to say it, the Dodgers have really been amazing. I can't think of any team that turned it around that strongly in a season.
It pays to spend, if you spend wisely.
