Your musical goals for 2015?

LOL, I've got lots I could, and probably should put on the list, but those are going to all happen, the only thing I want to do this year that isn't already a done deal is to resurrect the most questionable tribute act of all time. Faster Motorpussy, a tribute to Faster Pussycat and Motorhead, although tribute might be overstating it. I don't recall Taime Down wearing a dress on stage, but that might be our singers oh so subtle statement about glam metal fashion...

The school is a bit of a drive for me (over an hour commute) so that makes frequent classes tough, and I want to be ready for it... There are other teachers closer by, but this guy is good, with a top notch cirriculum. I just googled him and found he has an online study cirriculum somewhat akin to Scotts Bass Lessons, might be worth checking out...

I am familiar with the website. It is quite good.

If his teaching is anything like that I would drive extra to study with him. I have also seen some folks say good things that have studied with him.

  1. Take my thumb picking, etc. to the next level
  2. Learn to play choro and forró
  3. Learn to play real jazz even rudimentarily... for the first time in my life. C'mon, already!
  4. Wire up my pedalboard
  5. Finish repairing a few pedals I broke
  6. Record demos of some pedals and tube amps that the bass guitar community should know more about
  7. Record some music at home
  8. Continue to work in nearly complete obscurity

1. Get a luthier to make a new pickguard and repaint the headstock on one of my two Gibson Victory Standard's
2. Get a new custom-built ATA hardcase to suit my Gibson Victory's (the original cases are only suitable for storage)
3. Save money for an Ampeg V4B / 410HLF rig (or equal)
4. Do more gigs! Last year was a dismal effort.

and... same as every year...

5. Learn to play bass properly, so that I am not just a mediocre bassist with expensive stuff!

It would be nice to get an instrumental Rush tribute going but that isn't generating much interest on the Chicago Craigslist....:sour:

I have about 10 vids planned to do for my Youtube channel as long as I can find enough time and I have a brand new Ibanez SR705 to get comfy with.

I threw in the towel some years ago. Now I just want to sharpen my skills and gain some new ones. Not interested in playing out so much but would like to jam with some locals. Pretty happy with most of my gear but that magical tone is still evading me.

Finish the tool shed (studio).
Become a much better bass player.
Put together a band to play in the tool shed.
Rule said band with an iron fist.

Record three original songs as one decent complete project. I started on the first song before christmas, did bass last night and guitar tracks tonight. Just need vocals, touchups and mixing. Then on to the next two. We'll see how long the momentum lasts. I have other non-music project goals, too. One of my resolutions is to narrow down projects this year LOL.

1. Improve my overall technique.
2. Continue weekly jam sessions with current "band" and maybe get them to focus a bit more. They're kind of like herding cats now.
3. Resist the urge to suggest re-naming the band to "Herding Cats."
4. Gain enough confidence to play with more musicians.
5. Play, play, play without pissing off Mrs. frsbdg too much.
