i bought a kiss strap for $8 from guitar center. good looking and a really good price. for no reason i bought a gretsch strap for $40. really pricey. at least it fits my guitar very well. now the $8 kiss strap is in shreds. it for some reason shedding apart like i left it outside and it got water damage.

anyone else have a guitar strap from the same company that made the guitar?

I have a Kiss strap, so I'm qualified to comment here. :)

The Planet Waves Kiss straps look like leather, but they aren't. They must be some kind of man-made material that doesn't age well.

I also have a Gretsch G5123B. Rather than buy the expensive Gretsch strap, I bought a Fender one that looks remarkably like it and cost me about $20.

It's a good job you bought a gretsch guitar and not a kiss guitar. Just imagine what condition that would be in now.

Key word = $8

If you need to cheap out on straps, then get the nylon web ones. They may dig into your shoulder, but they're almost indestructible.

The only, well, "perfect match" is on my son's Fender Precision jr. (a 2006 28,60" scale Precision standard) with a shorter version of a Fender black folded strap (regular version is on a Squier Strat I customized with Pink Floyd's David Gilmour EMG pickups, electronics and controls)

many of my other basses (except Yamaha Attitudes) bear Fender straps, usually the colored logo combination ones, basically comin' from the huge number of Fender basses I used to have, secondarily because I just trust'em

Cheers,
Wallace
