Your thoughts on some 4-ohm 4x10 cabs...

I'm in the market for a 4-ohm 410 and I've identified a few options. I'd love to get some thoughts/opinions/reviews from people who've used any of these, or any other recommendations.

The ones below are all in my price range new/used.
The amps I'll be using them with are an Ampeg SVT-CL and a Markbass R500.

• Avatar B-410 neo (I have an opportunity to get a decent deal on one of these used so I'm strongly considering it)
• Fender Rumble 410 (the older with the metal grille; I'd have to look around for one)
• Carvin BR410
• Gallien-Krueger CX410

If you use the Markbass will the 4x10 be enough volume?
A cabinet@4ohms leaves little room to grow with many solid state amps.
Obviously the SVT has no such qualms.

It's been enough for me so far, and if I ever get to bigger stages I'll cross that bridge then. Besides, the trend I see in the places I play is smaller and smaller amps. I see plenty of guys bringing 1x15s, combo amps, 2x10s these days.

I'm considering that route as well. Some questions/concerns:

How stable are two vertically stacked cabs? I really don't want my SVT tumbling to the floor...
A 2x10 is much more than half the price of a 4x10, so this option increases the price quite a bit.
The portability issue is a mixed bag... obviously each one is lighter on its own, but now you have to either make an extra trip to the car or get something like a hand truck which is one more thing to pack every time.

But if it's worked for you I'd love to hear about the benefits and any recommendations for good 2x10s.

I wouldn't stack an SVT on 2 vertical 2x10s of any manufacturer.
No way. Too much glass and money at stake.
You could set it somewhere else though.

JimmyM stacks his pair of AV210 on top of a V4B with a stiffening board between. You would want heavy duty 2x10 to get best of SVT.

My 210 is slot ported so somewhat long on the short side. It is rock solid vertically atop my 115. I think it would be only marginally less solid on a matching 210.

I decided to go for that Avatar B410 Neo (it was a Craigslist deal). You can hear a quick and simple comparison I did of the two cabs here: Ampeg 410HE vs. Avatar B410 Neo (sound clips)

Overall I like it! I've actually only had a few chances to use it so far (most of my recent shows have had a backline provided). It seems louder than the Ampeg, with a bit more high-end and more "open" sound. It saves me a few pounds compared to the Ampeg (although the Ampeg is not much more difficult to carry--it has fold-out handles that help the weight distribution). Frankly if there were a cab exactly like the Ampeg 410HE (same dimensions, weight, etc.) but 4-ohm, I'd still probably choose that over the Avatar--but the Avatar is an excellent cab on its own, very sturdy, powerful, and good value.

Nice! My ears are so bad now I'd never be able to tell the difference in the two cabs without having them recorded in a video like that.

I've got a 4 ohm bxt-4x10 now, but I'm wanting to trade it for something lighter because it's 122lbs. New cabs now have higher wattage in a much lighter package. I want to upgrade to the ampeg neo 4x10, or maybe try the cheaper markbass 4x10. Both are really expensive, but I don't want to pay $1200 for a half stack, and they're too new to find on CL. Plus I don't think the 4 ohm ampeg new is as powerful as the half stack I have now.

I had an Avatar B410 4ohm. Cab it was plenty loud, punchy and sounded great, I ran a GK 400RB thru it, it was a great combo..
