Aesthetically- You did a very good job with your modification.
Practically- Fender branded necks are too valuable to modify. Its your bass of course, but I would rec. just getting a Warmouth neck or other repl. neck to mod and sell the Fender neck for bigger bucks.
You did a nice job though, and usually that's not the case with modified headstocks.

Reminds me of my Alien Audio 4 string headstock. I like it. I don't care for the traditional Fender Tele headstock shape.

A Tele shaped headstock is already too shy of wood. Taking more off might or might not do any harm, but I think I would have left all the wood on there I could. It looks OK.

looks good, better than the original tele style imo..tho looks like you cut into the E string tuner to accomplish it or just go with hipshot ultra light tuners...much smaller footprint on the back.

I was thinking that as well, having seen several basses with cracks in the headstock.

I recently put a 51P bass Replacement neck on a jazz body and didn’t stop there. Don’t love the old Tele Style headstock so I grabbed a drill and a half round file and went to work. Took about an hour. Fairly close to a Sadowsky headstock. What do you think?

Looks fine (kinda looks like a sitting bird), and if you like it, that’s all the matters.

I’d personally never do that as the difference is minimal and I like the old headstock a tad better.

Seeing as your already cutting up the headstock I would replace tuners with a smaller footprint so as not to cut into a perfectly good tuner.

I feel that at least one of those tuners is crowded and hanging precariously which immediately reminds me of modifications done to my dear little Shaftesbury before I bought it.
But it's your instrument and yours to modify as you wish.
