Youtube GROOVE finds

sho nuff sick groove ! I found this 1997 live clip from the Chris Rock show.. this guy looks like he is playin a MusicMan stingray ? Hard to tell about the recording though....

I talked about it with KJung a little and he guesses it's more in the modern jazz area (e.g., non-wenge neck MTD, or something with soapbars). I think he's right. Whatever it is, it smokes. I guess an active jazz with a set of hum-canceling with the neck favored a touch and stainless steel strings would do it well.

I played my (passive) DJ5 like that all this weekend (which I've never done before) and have been amazed by the versatility of that bass. Those Aeros smoke!

If you mean Lakland how are they ? I have been looking at the 55-94 or 55-02 recently and they seem to be pretty versatile with killer sound also ! I am a firm Roscoe believer but those Laklands do give me GAS...

I'm guessing this is a Tower of Power cover (I'm not familiar with the original tune), done by Candy Dulfer & Funky Stuff. It's grooving nicely, but at about 3:23 a bass solo begins that is sooooo funky, pockety, groovy... Reaaaaally nice, check it out.
