zebra+donkey=zonk?

hello badgers,

someone tried to tell me today that u can cross breed a zebra and a donkey to make a 'zonk'.... el what de? firstly, the last time i checked its impossibles for animals to cross breed (eg;humans and sheep), but they reckon donkeys and zebras have the same chromosone thingies so its possible.... secondly, where in the world do zebras and donkeys live in harmony together where they would breed?..... thirdly, who does who?... it would look awkward with either one of the two animals doin the other.... Oh, and also the zonk apparently cannot breed tho as an effect of the cross breeding....

It all sounds far too suss for me and i dont believe it... has anyone ever heard of this before... and can it ACTUALLY happen?!

A mule is the result of crossbreeding jack ass and a mare.

A hinny is the result of crossbreeding a stallion and a jenny ass.

I would imagine that a zebra is as closely related to an ass as a horse is, so it should be possible.

Mules and hinnys are sterile, just as you heard about a 'zonk'.
