Zeibek Pedals (Electronix)

Yeah, if this was the first, or even the second time that Os had flaked out with people's money and pending orders, then I could understand giving him the benefit of the doubt, but as Behndy said, this is time 3 or 4 (4 I think).

At that point, you kinda have to say, when will the "personal emergencies" stop? If your personal life is in that dire of a flux that you need to be able to disappear for a few months every year or so and leave your customers high and dry while you "deal with stuff", then maybe you shouldn't be attempting to run your own business in a customer-service-based field.

Os may be a good person at heart, and I dug the two pedals of his I've owned, but at this point buyers should be looking at him as just wayyyyyy to flaky to trust with your money.

I can dig it if things happen, I myself have been an email flake (recently), but usually when a business is set up, there is someone to steer the boat when the captain isn't on deck (so to speak).

I'm not bitter at Os, though I would like my money back... I am however super annoyed at both eBay and PayPal. I emailed PayPal and told them I couldn't get a hold of ElectroniX, Zeibek, or the owner to 'resolve' the issue, and requested they release my money back to me (it is currently in limbo as Zeibek hasn't 'accepted' it yet). They told me to resolve the issue with the company... idiots... how the F am I to do that when the company doesn't respond to emails? Fly out to wherever he is and knock on his bedroom window? Lame...

So I email eBay, and you know what they say? PayPal won't 'allow' a dispute for this claim, and of course they give no reason why... again, lame...

According to the email from PayPal... I must wait at least 30 days from date of sale, if after 30 days Zeibek or ElectroniX doesn't claim the money, I get it back... I ordered the Gemini Drive Lite on 3/25, so I guess I can wait 5 more days...

So really, all my anger is directed at PayPal for being douche-bags with my cash. I hope they have fun investing it while I wait. :rollno:

I am mildly annoyed at Zeibek for not getting back to me at all though. It reminds me of when I ordered something from instrumentpro.com (avoid them like the plague if you value your money, by the way). I ordered a amp case, never received a confirmation, after 3 emails and two weeks I finally got a 'your item has shipped'. When I got it, I found it was too big, I tried to get an return number from them (their 30 day return policy) and couldn't get them to answer the phone or return my emails. 30 days later I get an automated email from them inviting me to buy something else! I reported them to the BBB for fraud. I'm sure nothing will come of it. So now I have this $80 item I have no use for, and if I ship it back to them, it will most likely be the last I see of it, so I guess I'll just sell it elsewhere.

I am NOT anywhere near as mad at Os (not mad at all actually) as I was as IP. Those guys actually ripped me off, Os just inconvenienced me temporarily. Just thought I'd share the story for contrast.

Oh well. This is my 'fool me once' with Zeibek, there won't be a 'twice'. Besides, Submarines and Gemini Drives are being sold occasionally here, if I really want one, I'll just get it used....

Thanks for 'listening' guys. I mentioned all this in the first place kinda like the dude walking ahead of you that points out the dog crap on the pavement; you can ignore me and step in it if you want, but at least I did my part to make you a aware of it.

;)

.... after-purchase customer support is a HUGE thing with me. and with such good guys as Taylor from Iron Ether, Brian from SmallSound/BigSound, Ryan from Fuzzrocious, Matt from Wren & Cuff, Jimmy from BaddyOneShoe...... there's probably more that i'm forgetting. but these are all people that after i bought something from them were super helpful with either advice or mods to make it fit in more with what i wanted to do with it.

so........ yeah. Caveat Emptor like a MOTHER****er.

I totally agree, and would add Frank at FEA, great help, nice guy and quick to answer email questions. My recent and ongoing experience with Matt at Wren and Cuff is all good too, he is super patient and helpful as well. Customer service is really important for small companies, there are just too many competitors to choose from, many of them really good at what they (and others) do.

i have no dog in this fight, because as awesome as some of the clips sound for his stuff, all his "now you see me now you don't" scares me away from ordering from him. but personal stuff or not, and i hope everything is going ok for him, this is the third or fourth time he's gone incommunicado ne?

i like what i hear from his stuff, but i try to be careful with my purchases and after-purchase customer support is a HUGE thing with me. and with such good guys as Taylor from Iron Ether, Brian from SmallSound/BigSound, Ryan from Fuzzrocious, Matt from Wren & Cuff, Jimmy from BaddyOneShoe...... there's probably more that i'm forgetting. but these are all people that after i bought something from them were super helpful with either advice or mods to make it fit in more with what i wanted to do with it.

im in the boat, i have a dog in the fight but i have nothing negative to say. i have had 2 pedals From OS and both are amazing and i havnt had any problems with either and i have always had responses when i have emailed through the website. although the lack of communication does suck in some cases any time he as been MIA he has returned and done right by the people affected.
not to make excuses for his lack of communication but atleast when it happens he does right by his customers in the end.

You are completely right.

Zeibek Boutique Effects Pedals ~ News and Updates: Zeibek to Close Doors Indefinitely

I am sad to announce that I will no longer build pedals. The decision was not easy, yet it is the right one at least for the time being. I suggest reading this whole text as you will find important information when you weed out the personal stuff I pointlessly shared.

For those who are familiar with me and my pedals would remember that we were out of business for about six months last year due to some personal reasons. When I got back, I thought I would never go down again. Addition to that, I was determined to make sure even if I would have to be absent, the things would still go smoothly. I am disappointed to say neither has been the case for the last 2 months.

The problem of a small specialty business like Zeibek is the difficulty to find appropriate labor when the business grows beyond one person’s reach. The job itself is not repetitive, so there can’t be simple operating procedures to minimize employee mistakes. The nature of my pedals requires extensive knowledge and familiarity with the industry. Even then, the learning curve has been steep enough.

It all comes down to this simple fact: I can’t afford nor allure the people who truly qualifies for the job and the ones I could afford didn’t work out, they let me down consistently. So, in a way, I also can’t afford to afford to hire the ones I can afford anymore.

Basically, I will not build another pedal until I am 100% sure that I can follow through. Being in the music industry is still what I want and I will pursue that as long as I am alive. But at the time being, I will start looking for a corporate desk job like a normal person as soon as I am able and energized; unless I go back to Europe, which is an option.

In any case, I will continue to provide service for the pedals for at least a couple of years more. I still have enough supplies to build 1000 more pedals, so you are gonna be fine. The website is already paid for, so it is gonna be up, too. In short, I am not disappearing.

That being said, I have around 200 pedals at hand. I will start selling/trading (with musician toys) them soon. I may even lower the prices a bit, because it is gonna be tough to store everything when I close the workshop.

With Love,

Os

First of all, I really appreciate your politeness and good manners. However, I don't have your money. :)

Dude, I had the the account set up not to accept any money once I was made aware of the bouncing ball on the ground which was dropped several times over. So, I did not receive your money and you did not pay me. Of course PayPal could not send you a refund. I can still see the accept button for the transaction and I just double-checked the balance, I am 100% sure.

Right now the choices are:

a- Doing nothing
b- Me accepting the payment and shipping the pedal

Let me know by sending a PM here.

;)

So, money returned and all is good. Thus ends another adventure in pedal-land. Good luck to you Os. From what I understand you make some fine effects, I'm sure we all look forward to you making more someday.

good to hear! fwiw, Os never seemed like somebody trying to scam people (Dr Bass). just like things got busier than he anticipated and didn't handle it as well as he should.

when he's had his hiatuses, he has taken care of people when he came back. glad it worked out for you.
