The traditional poodle cut is supposed to improve their buoyancy while swimming to retrieve from the water.

There are a whole lot of these poodle-art pics on the Internet. The camel and the snail are two of our favorites. They're pretty amazing. Hadn't seen the zombie yet. Love it!

Based on how the dog is posing for the picture, I'd wager it's an ex-show dog that's used to enduring long grooming sessions. Must be hard on its legs, though.
