Zoom B1Xon Settings Thread...... OMG

I've spent quite a few hours over the last few days going through each compressorbnodel, and I always end up back with the 160. It just seems to have a certain "character" to it that i love, and while I've toyed with the other models, the 160 seems to play nicest with the rest of my pedals without getting too "squishy".

The opto comp is fun too, for a retro sound

Got a new setting to share with you. I use it to play Victor Wooten stuff. I use the BBE sonic maximizer for more harmonic overtones and an SWR amp (no cab sim) to achieve more of his tone.

Maximizer = "Exciter" effect (found after all the eq and compressors) with treble on 74 and bass on 0.
SWR = "SMR" amp with everything neutral except ENHNC at 1, CAB off and Mix at 30-ish.

Finally I added my other compressor effects to it as well after it (see previous page in this thread).

Great thread with a lot of information.

I just received my B1on yesterday and was able to spend about two hours with it running back and forth through the 100 preset patches. Loving it so far, but still working through the learning curve. Reading through this entire thread answered most of the questions I had, except for one...

How do I access just a certain effects box by itself? For example, I want to play around with a particular envelope filter separately, or listen to the representations of the Sansamp or MXR 80 DI+ box. Nearest I can guess is to overwrite a patch I don't care for and somehow bring the desired box by itself.

How do I add in a particular effect box to an existing preset? Or do I have to find a preset that already includes that specific effect and whittle it down so that it only contains the desired effects box?

Thanks in advance!

There's a + menu option that allows you to add a virtual stomp box of any sort in an location. Move the virtual cursor over to the right to find it.

Do yourself a favor and erase them all and work with one pedal at a time. They are all "gee wiz bedroom cartoon sounding" BS. It's a heck of a pedal if you find the manuals online for each of the emulated effects :) .

Learn what each pedal does, but I wouldn't stick to one at a time, e.g. using compression, octave, distortion, filter, and chorus for a synth sound is a prime example. Or light compression, amp emulation, chorus, reverb for a classic solo fretless sound.

Once again, thanks to all for the advice.

After spending a few more hours with it over the past couple of days I can see that a good portion of the presets are of no worth to me, YMMV. I've managed to overwrite and/or edit a few that now sound like something I'll actually use. But still got a lot of stuff to wade through. I'm not very experienced with many of these different effects, and on many of the various boxes I'm still trying to figure out what some of the knobs actually do. Should keep me occupied for the next several months!

Sometimes you can't add any more effects to a patch because it is "full" sort of. The screen will tell you this when you try to add it.

It's easy to take a patch and delete or add effects in it.

Usually when I delete everything in a patch I'm left with a little box in the window that says "bypass". I haven't ever deleted that. Don't even know if I can or why I would.

You can pretty well create anything you want in a patch by deleting or adding and then tweaking.

You can also place them in a specific order in a patch chain or move them around.

Some of the presets are a bit hokey sounding...but there are a few good ones in there too.

My lovely partner found she could get one of these using her bank’s loyalty points plus $17.86, and asked me if it was worth it. Remembering my old B1, I said that even just for the tuner and the looper it’s worth the regular price, or the tuner and the drum machine, but at $17 how can it not be worth it? It arrived yesterday, and I’ve not had a lot of time to work with it, but I did use the tuner, accidentally deleted one of the preset patches, and created a new one with SVT overdrive. Looks like there is a lot of options to work with!!

Ok, late to the party as usual, but Ive enjoyed reading this thread. Here is my paltry contribution:
This patch I use for some slap (RHCP Higher Ground) but also for brighter, lighter distortion (think Greenday?):
#1 Bassdrive: bass 3, trebl 0, prese 2, gain 70, blend 30, level 35, mid 7
#2 SVT: bass 6, mid 2, trebl 2, mid f 200, gain 40, level 25, ultra both, cab flip, mix 50. I have the overall patch level set to 50. I try to set my patch levels to work with all of my other volume settings with no adjustments.

Another patch that the guys in my band seem to think sounds good is also one I use on higher ground, it is for the wah type effect. I use it still slapping:
#1 Opt comp- drive 8, tone 50, level 50
#2 BassAutoWah- sense 4, reso 5, dry 0, level 50
#3 Bassdrive- bass 6, trebl -2, prese -3, gain 30, blend 50, level 75, mid 0
#4 SVT- bass 6, mid -3, treb -3, mid f 200, gain 40, level 47, ultra off, cab flip, mix 50.
Overall patch level is 80.

Let me know if you try these and have any suggestions on revisions.

I had one of the B's before without the expression pedal, I think it was a B1 (not sure). I barely used it, I think I got it for $59 brand new. I'm highly considering another bass pedal effect since I gave the B1 to my brother and he sold it. I'm just starting to get into bass more recently. Any other pedals worth considering under $100, preferably multi effects?

Well, a B1on?

Honestly, I hesitated between that and the MS60B (your 2 options in your price range) and the deal breaker was the switching options for me. I prefered the B1on.

They honestly sound good! I’m not crazy about the dirts and the octave doesn’t track well, otherwise it’s just great, and I’ve got plenty of individual pedals to compare with.

You won’t be disappointed.

I had a B1 and it was basically a toy compared to the B1on.
