Zoom B3 As Preamp Part 2

Geddy Lee w/ stacked HBs or MIA P --> B3 --> Headphones or BH250 + GK NEO 112 cab. The buzzing noise is there with all different power sources (ac adapter, usb & batteries) and even when I touch a metal part. BTW, the passive/active switch doesn't change the input level at all. The only difference I hear is some digital noise in the active mode.

With both basses, if still buzzing with just headphones (and under adapter power) then I suspect a defect/issue with the B3 unit.

In the above test, it is also worth trying another instrument cable from bass to B3.

Anyone tried the B3 with a GK MBP Powered cab? Anyone know if it will work? (I have the MBP112 cab coming soon, I'll know for sure then)

From what I understand from another TB thread, GK MBPs have an XLR input on them intended to accept a very hot +10 dB "Chain Out" signal from compatible GK amp models.

Even though the B3 has an XLR out, it is not capable of such a hot signal.

Please let us know how this pairing works out should you still pursue it.

Recently I had a bad experience with a third-party power-supply I had previously recommended, a while ago in this thread, for use with the Zoom B3 / MS-60B.

I have since rescinded that recommendation here ;)

You are welcome to continue discussion with me over there.

Cheers!

I hate those cheapo-wall-plug hum generating power supplies and avoid to use them where ever possible, especially on stage. They tend to fail in worst case murphy-like moments, at least for me. The B3 does work perfect with rechargeables. I use panasonic eneloop. A fresh loaded set gives me at least 7-8hrs full operation. I always have another fully loaded spare set in my gig bag but never had to use it.
