Zoom B3 As Preamp

It may be a stupid question, but you need a power supply for that kind of pedal or the B3 powers it ?

The typical expression pedal compatible with the B3 is a passive device, but there are some like the FCV100 mentioned above that operate on battery/adapter.

There is some good dicussion here, in mid-thread, about these pedals... even a schematic or two. ;)

Yes... I read the manual, again... Page 16... the total control for a patch can be set to
Mix (between patch and raw signal, like a variable bypass)...Input gain... output gain... or no action...

Then on top of that, if you set to no action, you can use the pedal function on effects within the patch (if so desired)....

I think that's how it works... I need an expression pedal to play with now :D

Almost always now, I use my own external DI box for XLR out between the B3's L/MONO 1/4" out and my power amp for a few reasons:

1. It eliminates the accidental PRE/POST setting

2. Third-party FOH sound guys will be less wary if they see a real DI box

3. As the B3's XLR out is very hot when the B3 is driving a power amp via 1/4" out, I can engage the DI box's -20dB pad and tame the signal

Hey Charlie. I'm just wondering what DI you are using? Is it a Radial JDI or similar Passive DI with a Jensen transformer that is very hard to clip or something else?

Cheers
