Zoom B3 As Preamp

Hey Charlie. I'm just wondering what DI you are using? Is it a Radial JDI or similar Passive DI with a Jensen transformer that is very hard to clip or something else?

Cheers

This economy model lives in my gig bag and serves me well, both as a traditional DI box or as replacement for the B3's no-frills XLR output.

But should there be a Radial up for grabs at the gig, I have no problem using that instead :D

Cheers!

I did a Christmas carols gig at a local but unfamiliar church on Saturday... We had to adapt to their limited sound system. I had to use a single mic send for both guitar and bass... So I plugged the guitar (acoustic) straight into my Carillon M5 mini mixer a took an effects send from my Carvin amp into another channel of the mixer. Then I put the output of the mixer into a Zoom B2.1u... I DI'd from the B2.1u to the mic send and threw in a little compression and EQ...

It worked great ... one makes do with one has available

I should add that I put the B3 in between my bass and amplifier, as well.

So I've been using the B3 more often by itself and am considering getting a power amp and not using a traditional head. Ran the B3 through it's DI to record this last week:

Had to turn the master volume way down on it and use the passive switch. Kept the master volume the same for when I played straight through it at church last Sunday. Who makes a lightweight power amp that I could pair the B3 with? I'd prefer something compact too(not rack sized). I guess it could be rack-sized, but weight wise it needs to be lighter than my Acoustic B600H(36 lbs), comparable wattage, and under $300 for me to really consider going this route, is there anything specific I should be looking for when it comes to power amps? shouldn't the sound quality be roughly the same? I really want to do this but don't want to end up with something that won't work come showtime.
