Zoom b3 patch Ideas

Crystalman85 came up with this one for Starlight earlier in this thread. It's not exactly the same tone as in Hysteria, but maybe it could be a starting point?

You're right about one thing. it's not exactly the same tone as hysteria, but it is a good starting point to duplicate a muse bass sound. you can try different amp models and distortion models to nail that muse sound if you like. what I posted was the least I can do.

Okee dokee. Here's all the info I could find on the various amps modeled by the B3. These are screenshots from manuals I could find. Some of the amps I couldn't find information on, or the manuals didn't mention EQ frequencies (like the Super Bass or Polytone Mini Brute III).

SWR SM900:To set up an SM900 patch it would be necessary to have the ParaEQ model as part of your patch so you could simulate the three parametric EQ controls.

Eden WT800: The Eden WT800 is another amp with three parametric mid controls, so use the ParaEQ on this one again.

Hartke HA3500: The HA3500 doesn't have bass, middle, and treble controls but has a 10 band shelving EQ setup, and the EQ points aren't the same as the 7-band EQ model the B3 has. Not totally sure what to do with this one.

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch has 2 preamp models combined to create a tube overdriven bass sound. a great patch for those who wants to add some warm dirt.

Valve drive

Section 1: znr: thresh: 17, detect: gtrln, level: 95

Section 2: bass bb: gain: 18, bass: 4, treble: -2, dry: 25, level: 90

Section 3: bassdrive: bass: 3, treble: 2, presence: -2, gain: 55, blend: 70, level: 95, mid: 5

I'm glad it worked out for you, neuman. I was listening to the boss bf-3 flanger pedal on some youtube clips and the gate flanger setting on that pedal sounded like a flanger combined with either a tremolo or a slicer. but since you did a combination of those effects, it sounded like you've found the sound you're looking for.

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch has a warm gritty tube bass sound with a midrange presence and reduced noise.

Valve drive 2

Section 1: znr: thresh: 17, detect: gtrln, level: 95

Section 2: bass bb: gain: 18, bass: 4, treble: -2, dry: 25, level: 90

Section 3: super b: bass: 3, mid: 5, treble: 2, gain: 40, level: 90, prese: 7, cab: swr4x10, mix: 50

I do remember the song. flea definitely gets his sound from his musicman stingray and he's well known to use gallien-krueger amplifiers. I would believe that some compression is involved with his bass sound on that song. perhaps this patch would help you out.

Hello, I figured out a patch to get a more consistant SVT tone.

I made frequency measurments on the different amp / cab sims of the zoom b3, and the SVT cab sim is a little bit too much I think (big mid scoop + very sharp pick at 3 kHz). I compared it to the svx ones (which seems to be more accurate) and so I tried to correct the zoom svt with 2 Para Eq to get something similar.

1- Para Eq :
2kHz - Q=4 - Gain=11
4kHz - Q=4 - Gain=14
Level =100
-> wider treble range

2- Para Eq (only one frequency used -> it replaces the mid frequency of the amp sim)
Frenquency to choose - Q=2 - Gain to taste
Other frequency set with a gain at 0 -> not used
Level = 100

3- SVT Amp sim
For flat settings with the Para Eq before :
Bass= 0 - Mid=2 - Treble=-9
Mid=350Hz - Gain and Level to taste
Cab = 100%

And you can use it with :
- para Eq n°2 as the midrange control (frequency + gain)
- SVT : Bass, Treble, Gain and Level

You'll see the difference may sound subtle, but the sound is more fuller, and when you tweak the mids or the highs the result is better.

Ok, so I've been inputing many of your guys' patches and I really like them but is there an easier way with the edit&share software? I know there is but I've been having problems just kinda "dragging and dropping" into the software. The software manual didn't help at all. Thanks guys!
