Zoom b3 patch Ideas

Letting the people of this thread know that I am completely revamping all of the patches on my b3. This is the list and I'm just getting through the A's right now which has been surprisingly fun!
A0-A9 = Clean channels
B0-B9 = Distortion channels
C0-C9 = Chorus/Tremelo
D0-D9 = Room/Delay
E0-E9 = Amp simulators
F0-F9 = Artist simulators
G0-G9 = Phaser/Flangers
H0-H9 = Reverse + effected channels
I0-I9 = Custom
J0-J9 = Random/Noise

Nice idea, I've been trying various ways to arrange my patches and have something similar to this. Although this isn't very practical if you change patches mid song. I can't think of a time I would have tremelo or phaser on for an entire song.
It would be nice to have the patch changing abilities of the old 505 and the new B1on where you can pre select a patch without it changing and engage it when needed.

Thank you jking138! If possible, please give the parameters. I just recently purchased B3 and still new to this. Here's another clip like this patch:

Ok, remember low action, so about 2mm between the top of the 17th fret and the string. Make sure the neck has a relief of about 0.5mm at the 7th fret with the string fretted at the 1st and last fret.
This proper set up (according to the fender website, so Jazz and P style basses, check other manufacturers websites for relevant setup guidelines) will do most of the work for you, so on to the B3.

Bass Driver Sim
All values are between two numbers so use your ears, they'll vary depending on the bass.
Blend 50 - 60
Gain 80 - 90
Bass 2 - 3
Treble 0 - 1
Presence 4 - 5

Any compressor you like to even things out (use the 160 comp on default settings if your not sure what you're doing) and leave the ZNR noise reducer as default but change the efxin to gtrin.
When I say 'default' that means the settings already on the sim when you change the sim to another, the sims don't appear with neutral settings.

I need some help to got a sound like the bass in this video

hope you can help me ;)

Just sounds like a jazz with low action through an amp. Try the the Bassman amp sim with slightly boosted bass and mids around 1khz - 2khz.

It looks like he's playing through an ampeg in the video, so you could try the SVT as well but the Fliptop would get you closer. The effect on the interlude is just a phaser.

Anyone have any clue what to do for an RATM sound? Specifically one that could do both the clean and dirty sounds from Know Your Enemy. I have a patch set up with the opt comp and the svt which I know are parts of his rig but I can't get that filthy drive sound of his here. I play a fender Geddy Lee jazz bass and he played a stingray, which probably makes things a bit different, but can someone help me get this sound?

On the first album he used a SWR rig not ampeg, if you switch them you'll notice a marked improvement to your 'know your enemy' tone. Second he used an old Marshall Guv'nor distortion, the nearest on the B3 would probably be the Tube screamer sim, full blend.

If your looking for Evil Empire onwards tone, then the sansamp sim (bass driver) is quite close to his custom distortion and then use the SVT.

The Geddy Lee should work fine, just favor the bridge pick up and boost the 800hz - 1khz mid range to compensate. His isn't a very bass heavy sound and also high action set up and hard finger style help. If you don't play hard you miss some of that growl and energy.

here's a new patch I came up with. This patch duplicates the smooth dirty sound of an Ibanez pd-7.

phat-hed distortion

section 1: znr: thresh: 17, detect: efxln, level: 90

section 2: squeak: gain: 40, tone: 45, level: 90, balance: 17

section 3: g-Krueger: bass: 4, mid: 2, treble: 3, midfq: 300hz, gain: 45, level: 90, color: off, cab: ac1x18, mix: 50

here's another patch idea I came up with. This patch closely duplicates the transparent heavy distortion sounds of a darkglass b3k.

crystal distortion

section 1: exciter: bass: 1, treble: 4, level: 70

section 2: squeak: gain: 45, tone: 50, level: 80, balance: 17

section 3: bassdrive: bass: 2, treble: 3, presence: 4, gain: 57, blend: 70, level: 90, mid: 4

FYI.... I have my Zoom B3 in the classifieds if you know anyone looking for a mint condition/priced to sell B3! It has lots of sounds from this thread installed too!

I just got my B3 today and I've been having a lot of fun with it but had a quick question. I'm using the MXR DI along with the SVT amp sim. What's another good choice to throw in as a third option (compression?, EQ?). Also, do you guys have any recommendations as to what comes first between DI, EQ, and Compression? This is my first venture into effects so I'm curious what order you guys use on the B3.

If you use the MXR's distortion then is good idea to put first in the chain the ZNR noise reduction.;)
The Comp is not necessary if you use the distortion, because the distortion already adds compression to the signal. The DI with the SVT Amp have all ready a lot of eq capability. So not so useful to and another eq to the chain.
My recommendation for the fx order is comp->EQ->DI .But fell free to experiment with the order, whatever sounds right IS right for the application. The amp must be always in the 3rd position ofc.
Don't forget to use the change order function of the total menu.

I made one patch for the John Myung Solar Groove song

I play that song in gigs and sound fantastic with my patch.I use my Yamaha RBX jm6 6string bass with 70% to bridge humbucker for the harmonics.

Solar GRV
Chorus Depth 20 - Rate 16 - Mix 50 , Locut 120Hz - Level 100 - Pred on
G-Krueger Bass 5 - Mid 0 - Trebl 6 , Mid_F 200Hz - Gain 40 - Level 80 , Color off -
Hd Reverb Decay 10 - Tone 5 - Mix 20 , PreD 54 - Hpf 7 - Level 100.
Global and total volume 100.

You cane use it for the bass intro of the Dream Theaters The Glass Prison

This one is for the Guns N' Roses Sweet child of mine.
I take the idea from that youtube video cover. The guy plays with pick,i use my fingers.

With the chorus cuts very nice in the mix and the intro phrase sound awesome,to mine ears at list. And when you play the octaves i find that sound nice.

Guns child
Exciter Bass 7 - Trebl 6 - Level 100
Chorus Depth 45 - Rate 25 - Mix 18 , Locut 120Hz - Level 70 - Pred off
Hrt 3500 Bass 3 - Mid 0 - Trebl -1 , Mid_F 800 - Tube 66 - Level 100 , Comp 5 -
Global and total volumes at 100

Ejoy and tell me your opinion please ;)

I made a very useful patch library for B3...the complete empty one  .
You can download it from my dropbox here https://www.dropbox.com/s/3kvwxhqu8bv6okw/Zero patch library.b3a

I don't know the correct way to upload it to the Google Ozzygreg patch library(or Crystalman library, don't remember https://docs.google.com/folderview?usp=sharing&id=0B7b88q8uy5hYMFJUem5nUDNyMkk ),if someone knows the way please do it.

Cheers

I reply to myself to make something clear about that complete empty patch library i make.
The purpose i made it it's because you have all the patch names blank, and the B3 is complete in unity volume and default settings.Every patch have every fx with the recommended settings from Zoom, not the case with factory patches. Is a little difficult to create one for your own, because you must delete one by one every patch and save the library somewear.I find it is very convenient to begin creating my own patches with a empty one library.

In case someone have the Zoom G5,i made a empty one also https://www.dropbox.com/s/lrfg90zbqh4bmtv/G5 emprty library.g5a

Thanks for the reply! Also, just to clarify, if I add a new patch like one of the ones discussed here, I would need to delete one of the pre-installed patches since it only holds 100 total, is that correct?
