Zoom b3 patch Ideas

I took a listen to this song and it sounds like it's distortion with a ring modulator effect(at least from the bridge part of the song). I guess you can try using the proco rat or the great muff model with a ring modulator. give that a shot a see if that works out for you.

I've recently tested it out and this what I came up with.

Section 1: ringmod: freq: 40, tone:10, balance: 50, level: 100

Section 2: dist 1: gain: 50, tone: 40, level: 100, balance: 25

Section 3: svt: bass: 4, mid: 4, treble: 5, modfq: 300hz, gain: 40, level: 45, ultra: low, cab: sb4x12, mix: 50

This is the closest I can get to duplicate that sound. it may not be much, but give it a shot and see if it works out.

Anytime, dude...the use of a compressor model will give your bass more sustain. I'm not much of a compressor kind of guy, but I do enjoy using the m comp and the limiter.

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch duplicates the grind amp model from a line 6 low down bass amp and the line 6 bass floor pod. this is a great patch for rock and metal bassists who wants some killer edge to their rig.

Line 6 grind

Section 1: exciter: bass: 4, treble: 3, level: 90

Section 2: squeak: gain: 18, tone: 45, level: 100, balance: 25

Section 3: svt: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: 0, midfq: 300hz, gain: 40, level: 40, ultra: both, cab: ag1x15, mix: 50

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch has a bright but punchy sound that has growling lows and clear bright highs.

Mr. beef 2

Section 1: Limiter: thresh: 20, ratio: 4, level: 90, release: 5

Section 2: bassdrive: bass: 3, treble: 0, presence: -5, gain: 50, blend: 75, level: 80, mid: 5

Section 3: monotone: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: -2, midfq: 300hz, gain: 50, level: 50, char: flat, cab: pt1x15, mix: 50

Section 2: Chorus: depth: 50, rate: 23, mix: 59, locut: 200hz, level: 100, preD: on

Section 3: bassman: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: 2, midfq: 250hz, gain: 40, level: 75, Deep: off, cab: ag1x15, mix: 50

Section 2: Flanger: depth: 75, rate: 30. reso: 7, preD: 3, mix: 70, level: 100. locut: 180hz

Section 3: bassman: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: 2, midfq: 250hz, gain: 40, level: 75, Deep: off, cab: ag1x15, mix: 50

I'm playing bass in a Symphonic Metal band (like Nightwish, Epica), so I'm looking for a good patch for this genre.

Actually I play with an Ampeg combo amp BA300 1x15 300W and with Bassdrive on the Zoom B3. Can you help me? I would like to have a sound like Marko Hietala, Nightwish's Bassist. Thanks ;)

ps: Sorry for my bad english, I'm an italian guy :D

Your english is decent. as for a marko hietala sound, give this patch a try.

Line 6 grind

Section 1: exciter: bass: 4, treble: 3, level: 90

Section 2: squeak: gain: 18, tone: 45, level: 100, balance: 25

Section 3: svt: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: 0, midfq: 300hz, gain: 40, level: 40, ultra: both, cab: ag1x15, mix: 50

This patch duplicates a sound similar to the grind amp model from a line 6 lowdown amp and line 6 bass floor pod. if you own a warwick bass that's just like marko's or a similar bass to it, you can easily get his sound this way.

Here's a new patch I came up with. this patch closely duplicates the warm tube distorted sounds of a carl martin bass drive. a great patch for those who want a warm bass sound with a little bit of grit.

What's the Gain setting on the Monotone effect in that patch please?
Also, the Character setting .... there is only "dark", "bright" and "flat" in the B3, no "both" option. I assume you mean "flat"?

I play in a classic rock cover band and have been enjoying the various tones I've been able to get from my B3. This past week, the band added a couple Springsteen tunes into the mix, and so here is my Garry Talent setup:

Position 1: EQ
Position 2: Bass Drive (level 50, blend 100, treble 2, bass 2, gain 51, Presence 1, Mid 0)
Position 3: Opt Comp (drive 7, tone 54, level 50)

I run this through my 2011 Jazz Bass, with the neck pup at 2, bridge pup at 10, tone at 1).

Enjoying the flexibility of my B3, have to say I think it is a ton better than the Line 6 Bass Pod XT Live.

Has anyone found a good envelope filter patch? Or developed one. I recently put my B3 in to a loop in my pedal board, and that really has made it a lot more useful for me as an effects pedal. Now I can choose an effects patch between songs, and stomp it on for those chorus parts or whatever part I want to kind of underline with a particular effect. I just have not found an envelope filter that I really like, they all seem to get buried with my band. Sounds cool alone at home, but dont cut it with my band.
