Zoom b3 patch Ideas

Tonight I finally got to use the B3 in a rehearsal setting. It was a lot of fun to play with and all the guitarists were jelly. Switching between patches takes longer than I prefer, but I think that once I start to remember where things are it'll be a lot easier.

I think I'm going to adjust my current patches by setting all of the effects' output levels back up to 100, and then dialing back the Global level to somewhere around 25%. This should allow to more freely experiment without having to do a bunch of level tweaking beforehand. The damn thing is just way too loud at the factory default!

I'm pretty pleased with the Bassballs and El Oso patches that I crafted earlier. Those and the tap-tempo flangers are currently my favorites. :)

Just set 'em up in the order you need them. Mine are always one click away!

You can repeat/re-name patches if you need some of them in different songs.

I use "Edit & Share" to set all that stuff up, it's way easier on a computer screen.

90 different B3 patches available here for download!

I've uploaded a few of my latest ones.
NB: The "recording" focused patches will probably sound boomey. They're supposed to be that way. I usually record over two tracks at once, with one of the tracks being the bass's dry signal.
I then blend them together in the mix. The dry signal gives the clarity, the wet the "oomph".

Compressor, EQ, then into the SVT sim.

Marcus Miller signature Jazz recording patch.
Bottom B, Splitter, then into the Heaven amp sim.

Bottom B, ZNR, then into the Hartke HA3500 amp sim.
Fairly happy with this one now.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club bass fuzz.
This one's tough because I don't have a semi-acoustic bass to use to try and nail the sound.

I'm not entirely happy with this one just yet. Needs work.

Gotta tweak this one a bit too.

This needs more time spent on it.

are these meant to mimic the sounds of the respective basses ? or are these patches for recording with those specific basses in mind ? Thanks !

Here's another patch I've come up with. this patch closely duplicates the smooth hi-fi sound of emg pick-up.

Smooth modern bass

Section 1: m comp: thrsh:17, ratio:4, level:75, attack:7

Section 2: booster: gain:30, bass:2, treble:3, level:45

Section 3: d.i plus: bass:4, mid:1, treble:1, gain:80, blend:50, level:90, color: on, chan: clean

Note: the gain and blend setting does not effect the d.i plus model since it's on clean mode. so it won't effect the patch in any way(unless the channel section is on the distortion channel).

Here's another patch idea I've come up with. this patch has a warm overdrive sound that totally rocks.

Warm rock bass

Section 1: any effect you want

Section 2: t-scream: gain:40, tone:45, level:80, balance:40

Section 3: acoustic: bass:3, mid:-2, treble:1, midfq:450hz, gain:45, level:90, char: off, cab:swr4x10, mix:58

Thanks for this... tried it out at rehearsal yesterday and it does indeed totally rock.

Here's a new patch I've come up with. this patch closely duplicates the sound of MEC pick-ups found in warwick basses. if you're a fan of warwick basses, give this patch a try.

MEC simulation

Section 1: exciter: bass:5, treble:7, level:80

Section 2: Booster: gain:30, bass:2, treble:-3, level:40

Section 3: bass pre: bass:4, treble:5, level:59, mid:7, freq:450hz

Here's a new patch I've come up with. it is a punchy tube-like bass distortion patch with warm lows. a great distortion patch for playing heavy metal music.

Modern bass distortion 3

Section 1: overdrive: gain:7, tone:25, level:90, balance: 18

Section 2: bottom b: bass:5, treble:4, level:45

Section 3: bassdrive: bass:3, treble:2, presence:2, gain:59, blend:70. level:90, mid:4

Using the Bass Blaster patch with a higher gain tweak for a Rage cover, and lower gain for just a little dirt to make my BTB a bit less polite for some RHCP stuff. Awesome patch.

Glad you like the patch. I never would of guess that the bass blaster patch at a high gain setting could get you a rage against the machine sound. even though this patch is basically an overdrive patch, I can see that it can be a distortion patch as well. thanks for the awesome info, bradbass.
