Dave ellefson gets his sounds from his signature jackson basses and hartke amplifiers. perhaps this patch might do the trick.

Section 1: znr: thresh: 17, detect: gtrln, level: 90

Section 2: exciter: bass: 4, treble: 3, level: 85

Section 3: hartke: bass: 4, mid: 5, treble: 3, midfq: 350hz, tube: 50 , level: 70, comp: 3, cab: ha4x10, mix: 50

If you own a bass with 2 soapbar pickups, you should be set for this patch.

Okay...that patch you've posted is one patch I had in mind, only with less gain. my other idea for a scooped fieldy sound is using a gallien-krueger amp model with the color set to mid(which gives it a smooth scooped sound) with an eden 4x10 model added with an exciter for extra punch. here's the settings to that.

Super scoop

Section 2: exciter: bass: 2, treble: 3, level: 90

Section 3: g-krueger: bass: 4, mid: -3, treble: 5, midfq: 250hz, gain: 40, level: 90, color: mid, cab: e4x10, mix: 50

I just tried this with the MS60b, which I discovered doesn't have the G Krueger amp, so I trial and errored a few others with similar settings and I found one that works. I can't remember what it was exactly but I will type it up later in the MS60b thread.

Unlike my variation which uses distortion, this one sounds good through a bass limiter too (I use the Behringer one) which enhances some of the quirks and the clickiness of the sound.

Yeah the ms-60b has a limited selection of effects, amp, and cab models compared to the zoom b3. if you own a zoom b1on or b1xon, you would be able to use that patch.

Amazon finally have stock and are preparing to dispatch the B3 so I'll be able to properly try it soon! The variation I made based on yours sounds good though for now. Less muddy than my high-gain version, can work with it as a bass tone to compose with.

You can as long as you have it set to make the patch suitable as a bass tone.

I'm looking for a patch idea to approache the muse bass sound on dead inside (seems some octaver, phaser and drive)

If I remember correctly, the grind patch is basically an svt amp model with a tube-screamer model. and the rock bass sound sample is an svt with a limiter. here are the settings I remember correctly.

Grind

Section 1: m comp: thresh: 20, ratio: 4, level: 90, attack: 7

Section 2: t-scream: gain: 30, tone: 70, level: 100, balance: 40

Section 3: svt: bass: 3, mid: 4, treble: 2, midfq: 250hz, gain: 35, level: 40, ultra: low, cab: ag8x10, mix: 50

Rock bass

Section 1: znr: thresh: 17, detect: gtrln, level:100

Section 2: limiter: thresh: 20, ratio: 5, level: 100, release: 4

Back to the topic, I don't think it is possible to get that tone with a fretted bass.

That can work...you can also try the same amp model with the ag8x10 or use the sansamp bass driver model where the amp model is. I'm pretty sure that justin chancellor uses a tube preamp as a part of his sound.

This sound isn't really complicated. an svt amp model with some compression should do the trick. I've actually played this song with a cover band that I currently play with. we once did a gig where we were asked to play soundgarden tunes and I've found out that some of their songs are complicated to play. I wish we played alice in chains tunes for that gig. that would of been awesome. anywho, this patch should do the trick.

I have been trying to replicate the RATM bass tone for @TheIndieKid and I've got something that sounds vaguely similar, except that the EQ balance is off somewhat, however, trying to add more bass or lower the treble results in a room shakey boom, which is annoying. I made the patch on the MS60b but it's transferable to the B3 - I'll type up the settings I used in a bit, and would appreciate if anyone could help adjust it to sound accurate, I think it's close, I found that, at least on the songs (and covers of) that I used as reference, that he uses a very warm tone, with an OD/Distortion with a very low gain, at least, to my hearing it sounds like that, I'm not sure if I should add a comp or something, but as the B3 only has three slots, it's hard to do that. If I was douing it for myself, I would utilise the combo of the B3 and the MS to have 7 slots to play with, so I could try different amps, EQ, parametric EQ, comp, distortion etc and fine tune it (plus then search for his wah and other effects to chain ) but with just the B3 (or using the MS60b as though it were a B3) I don't have the luxury.

(Reason I'm using the MS60B is because it doesn't autosave so I don't accidentally autosave anything and lose the tone I worked on, and I can use the 4th slot as a noise gate or the A/B selector for testing against a clean tone etc.)
