Zoom b3 patch Ideas

Thank you SO much....the MEC patch is now my main go-to patch and tone. The other one is gonna take some tweaking....but I like it, and I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I hope this thread lasts forever (or until the....B4???...comes out!)

Hey y'all I have a couple of Cliff Burtonesque patches to share. I couldn't find much else on this thread so I made some myself and tweaked till it sounded just about right. I prefer more low end in my sound than St. Cliff so I purposely didn't try to copy his tones, just pay homage to them.

Bass muff
Gain 89; tone 91; level 110; mode norm; bal 93
Comp settings will need tweaking for your bass but this will give you a very similar tone to the Ride the Lightning album. I usually use an expression pedal with the Vox but I keep it set to punch into and out of the Bells intro. With an expression pedal this can give some crazy wah effects (call of ktulu like almost to anesthesia, but I recomend a separate patch with the great muff set at 42 79 113 and 87 for that)
I'll get back to y'all with the second one later it's peanut and jam time.

Bass 2 (-1 for a more cliffy tone); mid 2; treb 1; mid freq 400 (I move to 500 or 630 if I need to fill the guitar space like the solo in Orion); gain 43 (the tipping point for my particular bass. Should allow you to go from clean to hairy with fingers without the muff on); level 48; ultra off: cab orig (sometimes I use 4x10 HA); mix 0 (up to 12 to tame the highs through bright amp)
As you probably guessed, I tailored this one for the song Orion, but it works for a lot of MOP when blended with di (I usually run between 95 and 100 under total for Orion, but back it as far down as 40 for other MOP and some RTL songs).
Let me know if these work for y'all and if you have any suggestions that may improve the sound (I tinker constantly and am very interested in trying some new approaches.

This gives me 2 approaches I find to match late 90s rock sounds (especially in drop D) both metal such as last resort and dirty takes on some scooped tones like on Hey man Nice shot. I don't use the bb and the di at the same time I just switch between them and us the boost to kick it up on demand and to boost the mids a bit when necessary. Also the bass BB has become my favorite dirt on the B3 because I can go from a fuzzy clean to a sasquatch pube dirty through my fingers alone.

Glad it helped you out. who know what next zoom product will be release in the future. and because this is talkbass, chances are this thread is hear to stay. even if years later and some folks out there are purchasing a zoom b3 used and needed some patch ideas, they can always search for this thread. who knows, maybe sometime in the future when zoom releases a new bass multi-effects processor, I might make a new thread on patch ideas based on the new zoom processor. whatever it is called. just like I did with the digitech bp355, the korg ax3b/ax5b, the deltalab dbfx1, and so on and so forth. I will be there posting nifty patch ideas for those owning certain multi-effects processors.

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. inspired by the new wave of british heavy metal, this patch has a retro but a raunchy bass sound that has a significant lo mids presence.

I've owned a B3 for years and foolishly decided to sell it in favor of something more "simple" since I don't really use effects much.
I bought a VT Bass Deluxe thinking it would be an easy way to get fat clean tones, but I got mostly overdriven stuff since my pickups are so hot.
Sold that and got a different B3, and am glad I did!

I've been pouring through the pages on this thread looking for ambient-ish patches and a sitar sound. I saw some conversation about a sitar sound, but didn't see a resolution, was someone able to come up with one? Any ideas for ambient sounds? I'm learning that to get what I'm looking for ambient-wise I'll probably need an expression pedal, which I don't have at the moment.

Please keep in mind that I have a highly modified (series/parallel sw & 3 band active eq) OLP MM3 with dead strings, so amp equalization (and cab config) may vary to get that sweet mids out of the patch.
LIMITER = thrsh: 6 > Ratio: 7 > Level: 88 > Rel: 3

Does anyone have a patch that would emulate Krist Novoselic's bass tone (Nirvana)? I know he used a Gibson Ripper, which unfortunately, I don't have, but is there any patches which would emulate the tone of his setup?
I would love some Sam Rivers (Limp Bizkit) tones...
Some good bassy songs to look at when working on his tone would be Clunk (three dollar bill yall), Rearranged (Significant other) - probably just clean besides an EQ and amp sim ?, Hold On (chocolate starfish), Boiler (chocolate starfish), Nookie (significant other), Lonely World (results may vary), gold cobra (gold cobra), backporch (gold cobra special edition)
Some bass-heavy tracks where you can really hear him in the mix and where he sounds really good.
I managed to emulate Fieldy's (Korn) clicky clacky downtuned bass sound, if anyone wants the patch settings I can type it up later. I don't know how good/practical it is for slapping like he does as my action is currently too high to slap
(and I'm not that good at slapping anyway) but for what I could do with it, it sounded pretty accurate to me.

Anyone able to make a patch for Al Cisneros' bass tone in Dragonaut? I know there's an envelope filter in there. I heard it's a MuTron III but I'm not sure.
I just came up with a nice Adam Clayton style clean harmonic tube tone. Obviously a P BASS with the tone rolled back a little helps.
