Zoom H4 or H2?

I've be scouraging the internet for reviews and have read as many as I can. However I'm still undecided as to which one to get. I'm looking for 1) a protable recorder to record live gigs and rehearsals, 2) I also want to use it as a interface to do some home recordiong with guitars, DI my bass, and put some drum tracks and vocals. I know the H4 does both, can the H2 do this as well even if there is only a 1/8 input? I'd like to save myselk the 100$ and get the H2 and have the extra mics of the H2, but will I loose out, by not having the 1/4 and XLR inputs?

Thanks for your help
Henry

I just got an H-2, and it's pretty good. I used a portable DAT which required an external mic, so this thing is a dream, and the sound quality is pretty good. I don't need the effects or other extra goodies the H-4 has, so I opted for the H-2. The Sony portable DAT has only an 1/8" stereo mic input as well. The stereo mic cable is reduced to that size. I recently got my H4 and it's great! I have recorded drums with the built-in mic, and bass and guitar direct, but through the built-in effects. It sounds quite good IMO.
I would recommend the H4 if you want to do DI recording. But obviously I haven't tried the H2.

I also just picked up the H2 for recording practices & such. I love it! It's perfect for what I want and sounds great. Having quad condensers is great since you can just put it in the middle of the room and record everything.

I definitely wouldn't buy the H2 for home recording though. The H4 looks interesting for that, but I haven't used one.

H4 plus the software with it should allow you to do what you want. For LIVE, it works fine:

Also GREAT as a hand-held field recorder and recording bands at football games(both children in HS marching band, H4 goes with me to every game).
