Zoom MS-60B at $69(new) by Samash

Wow, the moog-style filter and bass synth pedal on this thing are absolutely awesome. I'm a little underwhelmed with the amp sims though and sad there's no POG effect like on the G series pedals.

Definitely worth the money though, I'm going to make really good use of this little monster.

Wow I never even considered this pedal for synth like tones. Always thought about checking it out for just your basic chorus, delays, phasers etc etc Now I'm even more hyped to get it, should arrive sometime tomorrow.

On a side note for any guitar players out there as well. Sam ash is having a huge sale this whole weekend, today being the last day. They have the guitar version MS 50G on sale for $50. You need to speak to someone online to adjust it in your cart to the sale price since I believe the sale was in store only but they'll do it regardless. Well I had them do that, but also created a new sam ash account and used a separate email address to get another $10 off code for first time buyers. Surprisingly it worked!!!! Just ordered the MS 50G for $40! Today is the last day so just a heads up to any players that dabble with guitar as well :D

Got the 60b on tuesday, today I received the 50g. Sweet little additions to the collection I honestly would have never got had it not been for the ridiculous sale price. Most effects are the same on both units, few different variations, and ofcourse different amp sims.

Not sure if I read it on this thread or another but some where curious as to weather the guitar version wouldnt work as well for bass. Maybe I can do a side by side recording of the same patch from both units and let you guys decide.

I got my guitar version too. Don't forget to go to the zoom website and get the firmware upgrade. It's incredible. Increases the effects and number you can link.

Can you use them on either the bass or the guitar?

Both of these arrived today. The guitar version had a v2.1 firmware update bringing the devices up to 100. The bass version? Nothing. Zoom (like Line6) officially isn't going to bother because bass customers are marginal and not worth caring about, so v1.0 is all you're going to get.

My guess is that the effects would have probably been what were added to the MS-60G, so chaining or switching them might work, I dunno. [shrug]

I have to say I'm impressed with how long NiMH batteries keep them going. Rare for digital effects, which normally burn batteries like a furnace.

So I did the update as well on the guitar version. Not hard at all. Some awesome added effects in this update, that dual phaser is awesome. But it go time thinking, how hard would it be to do an update on bass. At first I figured it be a lot more amp sims but it seems most added effects are modulation effects (phasers, choruses, flangers). Hell why does it have to be an extra 100, just remove any guitar amp sims and gives us bass players all the other awesome effects they added. I think enough bass players on this forum own the ms60b to make some kind of noise if we complain.

According to the Effects forum, Zoom says no MS-60B update and we can pound sand if we don't like it.

I would have liked to see some more amps -- SWRs and SWR preamps, for example -- and some more FX, all of which which they probably already have in the can for their more expensive units and wouldn't take any great additional time or expense to put in a v2.0 update for the MS-60B...but they just don't care.

At $69 I am ot going to complain. I picked up the MS70-CDR which does up to six effects at a time. Between that and the ms60 I am pretty set.

I am. Bad-faith behavior simply offends me. If you're OK with that, I dunno what to tell you. We're lied to and jacked around more every day, but for some reason I just can't learn to love it. Must be something wrong with me, I suppose.

If they can give a firmware update to the guitar version (at the same MSRP and lower Ash price) that nearly doubles its features, it's hard not to be resentful of the situation as a mere bassist who apparently doesn't count -- especially after they hyped the nonexistent update in the marketing.
