I've had this since the early 90s. Is it/am I too old to join this club?
I would hope not, I've had the same one for quite a long time also..
Not at all - my former guitar teacher used to use the guitar version of one of these up until very recently as well

I still pull out the old 506 or 607 from time to time because of some of the sounds in there that the newer units don't quite get.
I've aquired a Zoom B1 and added a moog EP2 expression pedal to it. it's my first effect pedal,i didn't want to spend a whole lot of money to see if i'd be into effects. So far i like what i hear BUT!!! i have been unsuccessful at storing my custom sounds, or saving my own patches with it. The manual is short and sweet but doesn't really help. been browsing the net to see if i'm the idiot 
that can't figure it out, but can't find anything that fits my problem with it. been doing exactly what the manual say's to no avail.
All i wanna do is create my sound and line 'em up in a patch.

Welcome to the club. Once you have edited a patch to your liking press the "store" button one> using the up/down footswitches scroll to the location you want the patch stored> then press "Store" again> the display will blink and that should do it. Remember you can only store patches in the A0 through D9 locations- patches 00-39 are factory presets that cannot be changed.
I bought a used Zoom B3 last weekend (previously owned the Boss-ME50B and Digitech BP355), and I don't think I'll be going anything other than Zoom for a while. The best thing I like about the B3 is that I can mix and match every pedal in any order I wish, other multi-effects pedals aren't customizable at a low level like this.
I'll post a pic tonight when I get off work, the listing said used, but this thing looked brand new when I got it in the mail. One of the blind-order gambles I've made that really paid off

Just picked up a B3. Already, right out of the box, with no manual reading, doing better than the B9.1 ut.
You can see my b3 hiding behind two of my babies. Lol. Also I just got the expression pedal for it.
WOW...!!I thought my B2 was a great little machine but just upgraded to the B3 and it's freak-in awesome
