At 65 I'm in a ZZ TOP TRIBUTE BAND

Cheap Sunglasses can be easily and well done without keyboards, I have done and I have heard many other bands do it...

80's stuff, I would go with Woke up With Wood or My Heads in Mississippi.

Another vote for Just Got Paid. Also, My Heads in Mississippi is one of the nastiest, dirtiest songs out there. I love that tune.

"Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers" for sure! I used to do this with a band and the drummer and I did the back and forth vocals. It worked really well.
"The Balinese". Great old tune that doesn't seem to get covered much.
Another vote for "Cheap Sunglasses". Great funky tune and the ending sounds cool if you have a tight band that can really nail it!

I used to to love singing and playing Nasty Dogs and Funky Kings and Balinese on guitar in a band a number of years ago. Obviously I'm a big sucker for the Fandango record!

Rough Boy is a big favourite of mine, but hell, anything from Tres Hombres, Fandango, Tejas or Deguello is golden in my opinion.
The latest one (La Futura) I found pretty disappointing...not bad exactly, just nothing new.
I'll admit I don't know the few before that.

Got me thinking I'd love to run a ZZ Top set again...

We do cheep sunglasses, fool for your stockings, beer drinkers, tush and driving while blind. We usually just play a couple in each gig and they usually go over pretty well.

Just Got Paid, I'm Bad I'm Nationwide, and Cheap Sunglasses would be my suggestions. If you do the last one the band could ham it up and all put on sunglasses. Could even get some dollar store shades and pass em out to the audience and invite them to do the chorus. That would be a lot of fun if everyone in the place held up their glasses and all shouted in their best drunken harmonies "Go get yourself some cheap sunglasses!"

The 1.5 minute intro section is a little slow (though it has probably the best '59 Les Paul tone ever recorded). After that, it picks up pretty dramatically.

This thread has reminded me of how many great ZZ Top songs there really are, and how awesome that band really is. I miss the days when this kind of badass Texas blues stuff got regular air play on every rock station.
