Heard one of ZZ Top's finest albums. It's called Tejas. Check it out.

Like all the old ZZT albums, the 80's remixes completely destroyed the original's rawness and bluesiness. So find it on vinyl or even a vinyl rip vs iTunes version and just give it a good listen, you will not be disappointed.

Anyone agree, it's that good?

The original mixes are by far the best! I remember when they put out 6 pack, they really messed with those records for the worse. Change the drum tracks and 80s them up. They did however release the original mixes again in the Chrome, Smoke and BBQ set (I believe that's what it's called) and those sound so much better.

I agree, with the 70s output, you can't beat ZZ Top on vinyl. I actually have a 1st press of ZZ Top's First Album an it gets borrowed by my friends to make copies of. Killer sound with so much 'air' in it for lack of a better term.

+1000 on the cassette, I miss those days, maybe not the hiss, but even that was never as big of a deal. Remember when CD's first came out, embraced the quality but was really disappointed the because the artwork got smaller.

Frank Zappa described digital and the move towards CD's (I'll do my best to paraphrase) digital is looking out the window through a screen, you can still everything but it's really like tiny boxes that have a little space between them (the metal screen). He also embraced digital, but I thought that analogy was awesome.

ZZ's 1st 3 albums especially kicked ass.
The '80s MTV stuff...almost hard to believe it was the same 3-piece.

Agreed... love my DVDs, just waiting for indoor plumbing... and blu-ray... a lamp would be nice, if I had larger hamsters...

I also bought the 80's boxset when it came out. Bleedin' 'orrible it was.

I like some of the 80s ZZ tunes. From a production stand point, though, they sound super dated with the big reverb tom sound and Billy recording his guitar with *shudder* Rockman gear.
