U.S. Peavey Club

Like this! :)

Just picked up this afternoon…only spent a few minutes with it so far to check it out, but I’m amazed at the condition and playability of this 25 year old bass that I snagged for just over $400…

I’ve got a new Foundation wiring harness upgrade from Starr Guitars to install, along with some TI flats…
What a weird looking G&L.

Gratz, that looks like a heck of a deal.

Help me darken my Tort guard that is too red!

I doubt this is exactly a popular common topic, but I bought a new server base last week and I ordered two custom Picard from sewer, one all black and one in tortoise. I would love the tortoise except it’s very red. I was hoping for something more than the darker and brown or shades.

I don’t necessarily mind being out 60 bucks, but I thought there’s got to be a way to change the appearance to make it look more dark or it’s more browns and such. Maybe some kind of adhesive tint that they use for windows? And I don’t know much about color theory or what might get me closer to the promised land, being darker with more brown

Anyway, I couldn’t really think of any other solutions, but thought I’d throw it out to all of you resourceful/creative folk to see if you have any suggestions or things you think might work.

I’ll attach a pic of the bass and ugly guard…

Thanks, all!
I like the red!

Double Bass The Truth About John Coltrane

I used to think this until I learned how to play some bebop. My ears got way bigger. Nothing about Bill Evans was haphazard.
I’ve played lots of jazz and my father was a respected jazz pianist. Listened to lots of Joe Pass, Art Tatum (like him more so), Dick Hyman, Dave McKenna, Errol Garner, Oliver Jones, Oscar Peterson ( like him too somewhat), Ed Bickert and many more. Alas I recall seeing a poll that said Jazz is the least popular music style in the world. Ukrainian thumb piano has more fans

Official Mesa Boogie Subway Series Club

Of course the 800+ is great amp for both Pro and semi pro gigging bassist

It is all Andy in it's design: the BD, WD and TT are his excellent in recreating popular Mesa Amps many have missed and pined for and at the same time cured some of their quirks and made them better and more effecient (friendly) for Players

I am always glad to hear those that 'Beam' about D350, D800 and 800+
as it shows Andy's Skill as designer and sole creator: yes He is also creator of others but in a different way and goal

I have WD and am extremely content
and have no 'Gas' for a change but I am confident I would be perfectly happy with BD or 800+ but I stay out of what's the Best debates knowing that can be different based on players personal taste, Bias and perceptions

Since I am getting what I want from WD and Subway 1X15 it doesn't mater (for me) if maybe there are Amps out there that may even be somewhat better for me from any manufacture not just Mesa

That seems to have the potential to be a never ending chase and quite expensive🙂
100%. You are so right about that. Andy is a special person, and clearly why Mesa has become the top of the heap for bass. I don’t know him personally, but he has been very patient with me on here, and generous with his knowledge and wisdom. I trust and study his posts and insights (and his manuals!) closely, and just try to absorb it all as best I can…

Thank you @agedhorse for all that you do. Your efforts are making a huge difference, and all your designs stand out from the crowd. Clearly, it’s you.

Really appreciate you man ~ Thank you! 🙏

Hey Everyone! Today we're having another look at the Sire D5, a '51 Precision inspired bass from Sire Marcus Miller. These basses came out back in 2021, and honestly I feel like they were a bit overshadowed by the bright colors and more assertive vibe of the P5. I think that the Sire D5 is a well executed instrument that is worth another look, and with the La Bella 750C Copper White Nylon Tape Wound strings this bass has a whole new vibe. Let's check em out!

My experience with La Bella strings

I have jumped around to Pyramids and others but the labella sound seems to be my thing. I just put a set of Olintos on my 52 precision and it’s absolutely perfect. I’ve had similar in inconsistencies with labella but pyramid was the same. I think it’s just the nature of the beast… the good thing is once they are on and sound good you should be good for 5-10 years

Vintage German parlour looks classical but needs steel strings?

It does look more like a classical, but a peculiar one. I wonder if I've accidentally bought a junior guitar for far too much (I could've got an all-solid full-size Musima for even less)...
This is definitely a nylon string guitar. Do NOT put steel strings on it.
